9 game unbeaten run over, time to start another on Saturday. 4 points off 2nd place but with a game in hand, and 2 points above 7th on even games. Only Birmingham can knock us out the playoffs on even games, and they've got 3 games in hand on the league (including one against us) to catch up as well as playing in Europe so they're going to drop some soon. Win on Saturday and our game in hand, only Middlesbrough and Derby can stop us being in the top 2, both on goal difference.
I feel we'll learn a lot about our team in the coming few games. As has been said, sides who get promoted lose games, it's all about how you respond to those defeats that counts. Keep the faith and we'll hopefully put another unbeaten run together. UTT.
Bit of a long shot though isn't it? We aren't banging them in for fun and West Ham, Derby, Leicester, Brum, Boro and Southampton will all have more resolute defences than Barnsley. I hope we learn from the defeat and turn it around against West Ham, who aren't happy with their result v Bristol City tonight. I also hope the fans drop all talk of promotion until later on in the season, if we're up there. Still ages to go yet. Worst thing about this is the dicks on here and on the Daily Fail will have a field day now. ****in hate the Nick Woods and Fewings anyway, but them gloating at getting the prediction right ie us to fail gets, my back up.
I think starting again comes in January when we sort out a new striker. Unless Waghorn turns out to be better than what we have then we need to look elsewhere. Just hope we can hold on in and around the playoffs until then. Fudge around it all you want but only the bottom 3 have scored less than us, that's peas poor. My head is still up and I'm still positive but this sheet needs sorting! COYH
I was suprised with the result at Upton Park tonight, shows what this league is like. I'm disappointed with tonight's result, but we need to remain positive for the coming games, no point crying over spilt milk. A good side will learn from their defeats which hopefully we will do. But yes, after a 9 game run without defeating you have the feeling some of the neg heads willl be rubbing their hands together with glee waiting to fire out the criticisms.
not a wum...everybody thinks barnsley, easy game..... far from it, on their own patch, nowhere harder to go...
I wouldn't fancy going to Eastlands at the moment. But you're right, Oakwell is no easy place to go and just goes to show how open this league is (look at West Ham V Brizzle tonight for example).
not just there lack of goals, at times when our midfield has the ball, they are just static, offer no movement , or runs into space etc..dele almost played himself into a starting role on sat for me, just not sure how long he can last.
“Sounds as if we were unfortunate not to get something from the game, but if we has got 2 draws away from home against both Notts Forest and Barnsley, which would have given us 2 points we would have been happy. As it is we won one lost one and have 3 points which is better points wise than 2 draws. Lets not beat ourselves up over one loss, the next game is the important one now UTT.
We could/should of taken something from the game last night if it wasn't for Luke Steele in goal. It happens, we move on to the next game
Last nights result was pathetic. Pearson's time must surely be running out, we shouldn't even be in this league right now anyway. Lets get Billy Davies while he's still available...
Like it. Sounds just like some of the muppets who phoned into Blunderside after the game. There was even one of the NP Out brigade saying he should clear off and go to Leicester. Some people. Unfortunately unable to get to the match, didn't hear much of the commentary either so not in much of a position to give expert opinion on the match, but the press seems to have it down to us coming up against a goalkeeper who made some world class saves. http://www.barnsley-chronicle.co.uk/sport/article/4621/steele-has-hull-of-a-game-in-reds-win-? This won't happen to often, unlike some I don't expect to win every game, so lets press on, starting on Saturday with another good run. Let the WUMs have their fun, feel sure they will be on the HDF message board.
There was some muppet from North Hull on the City facebook site laughing it up that we'd been beaten. The prick used a Liverpool shirt as his profile picture and had Hullfc inserted inbetween his christian and surname. When questioned the muppet said the same old tripe they reguritate (and i enjoy Rugby League) that football was a puffs sport blah blah blah. Seems our purple patch has got to these glory hunters. Keep it up and maybe we'll have more "i hope City don't go up" threads like last time.
Unfortunately for some all that means is the type of underwear the away fans will be wearing on Saturday.
Derby losing last night takes them out of that so now winning those two games puts us at worst 3rd on goal difference behind Middlesbrough. Nice that all the 6 pointers are coming up together now. :s
