There is a difference between being top of Stuart Webber's list of best-qualified candidates to succeed Daniel Farke, and being the leading candidate to replace Farke at the time his contract was terminated. "Who would be ideal?" is very different from "Who is, or is likely to be, available?". I doubt if Webber viewed Knutsen as a serious possibility at the time.

It doesn't look like Lewis is going to make their 25 man squad as they have 3 options ahead of him and he hasn't played at all yet this season. Murphy has 4 sub appearances so far, so has a fair chance of making the squad.
Even if it were plausible, Villa fans love him and can't understand why he isn't playing. Many say he is their best player and that they sing his name whether he is on the pitch or not. Imagine Gerrard would be in some deep(er) trouble with the fans if he sanctioned a loan move lol. My how I'd love to see him back here though Ps... im sure Smith would give anything to have Buendia. He virtually guarantees promotion with his goal and assist record. Sargent and Pukki would have a field day with Nunez AND Buendia behind them!
Strange report that Cardiff claim they have not been told they can sign Hughill. Surely you have to make an enquiry first.
Feels like if Jamal wanted to come, he'd be in the building already. Unless Norwich are trying to drive a hard bargain and take him on loan on deadline day whilst paying minimal wages, I think if it was going to happen it already would have. He might not quite be what Smith is looking for in a LB, but I'd say we can't really afford to be too picky with a short term loan currently. McLean is currently our main cover at both LB and DM, with no fit players in either position.
