'MediaGuido had heard a few whispers' <laugh>

Lamy wasn't giving his views about Brexit or the EU, he was stating facts about WTO terms, his area of expertise.

I totally respect your opinion, Ubes, and as to the biblical figure, I was thinking more Nick Clegg, though I realise now that's defamatory and I retract it!

In all these things where government and its departments have citizen's information, it has to be handled sensitively. Think of the stuff the NHS holds on people, STI's, abortions, boils on the bum, you name it. And there would have to be strict rules on use of information on ID cards with a criminal sanction against government or quasi government misusers.

If it sorts out the illegals and Black Economy, I'm really for it.

There's tons of evidence on O'Brien. Open your eyes and don't believe the excuses of the man himself. This from the Express

"In one incident during his stint on BBC Newsnight that he was widely criticised for, Mr O’Brien attacked a US journalist for criticising press coverage of Donald Trump.

Appearing on the show Asra Nomani and said the US press had “vilified” the President.

However, rather than impartially listening to the views of his guest the BBC host dismissed the claims of Ms Nomani and went on to criticise Trump himself.

Speaking on his radio show in November he also said the Brexit would be “inferior” to EU membership.

It’s been reported in the media that the BBC scrapped Mr O’Brien because they became frustrated with the lefty’s egotistical approach to presenting."

If he had gone from the BBC with goodwill, then the BBC would have said so and wished him well. When asked, they decline to comment.

He's a "Gotcha" shock jock and barely anyone appears on his LBC programme, apart from Sadiq Khan which says everything.

That's why I hate going to rugby matches. Every time they have a scrum, I know they're all talking about me.

As I've said before, I consider myself to be a small 'c' conservative and a wannabe libertarian, so I just happen to believe my stance on ID cards to be wholly consistent with that. I don't much like the state interfering in the lives of the people and would prefer little government and big freedoms. That we already do this and have to do that are not great arguments for having more.

I'd have thought that supporting Brexit and being opposed to ID cards are wholly consistent positions, both anti-large state control and all that jazz.

But, hey, it's gonna happen sometime, so we're all gonna have to get used to it.

Fair enough. Not sure I care enough any more that I'd be too fussed if they introduced it. Still not totally sold on the need but not a hill I'd die on.
