I don’t rate him as a player but he’s Spurs through and through and seems a good professional who always tries his best. He’s one of few that I’d genuinely wish the best for when he leaves Spurs.
The thing with Winksy is that, much like Dele, it really looks like the fire inside him went out when Poch was sacked Obviously there's various other factors with Dele (injuries catching up to him, our team no longer creating space for him to thrive), but Winks honestly felt like somebody flipped a switch
That was and is Poch’s best strength, he’s very good at man managing younger players. Dele was very good at his peak though. Winks has never really had a peak or even put in top performances. Dele hit so dreadful lows but Winks has always been constantly the same with no improvement. In Serie A he should do better as the slower pace of the game will help him.
I think that he'll find it easier to find a role that suits him, too. Making a lot of passes and making lots of progressive passes is what he's good at. He's struggled with the physicality since his injuries.
That and not having that extra half second to have the extra touch he needs to ping a ball through a pocket of space, which is why his passing is so incredibly conservative
Winks will have a decent chance of regular game time this season at a PL club, solely due to the fixture compression caused by WC3032,
DH will have almost nothing to post about after Winks leaves. He might need to expand his 'Away day' blogs to include other sports. Might even branch out into horticulture updates now that he lives in the countryside.
Alfredo Pedulla brings up a potential wrinkle in any deal to take Reguillon to Nazio: he's injured, and not expected to be fit for three weeks Paul O'Keefe quietly deleting tweets as we speak...
For me, the best scenario we can hope for is a couple more (creative player and CB) similar to the pedigree of Kulu and Bentancur. They were players we needed, but none of us knew just how good they’d both be, and how they’d settle so quickly. - ideal scenario financially too. There’s clearly very limited (if any) options in terms of a “first team top player” to be found. Besides, a top name “out of nowhere” doesn’t seem to happen as regularly as it used to, and if it does, these signings tend to get made earlier in the window for the buying club to help the player settle, and for the selling club to find a replacement. - Never happening now, IMO. if Paratici can find a couple more gems like DK and RB, we’ve had a superb window. But names like Dan James and Traore aren’t the ones. The bar has been set with Kulu and Bentancur and we need to unearth more like this. They’re certainly out there.
Di Marzio now claiming that Reguilon is willing to wait until January before leaving While the aforementioned injury might have an awful lot to do with this, we really have ****ed it with Reggie this summer first by needlessly Unpersoning him and now we're having great difficulty moving him on
The one microscopic positive for Traore is that, with opponents doubling up on Son, he would offer an option that would give the opponents pause to commit two players on one flank when there's somebody rampaging down the other The main issue is his end product is garbage when you compare his league stats from last season to the other misfits we're being linked with Traore: P20 G1 A0 (plus an additional P11 G0 A2 in La Liga) Anthony Gordon: P35 G4 A2 Dan James: P34 G4 A5 Jack Harrison: P35 G8 A1 Realistically the only reason to look at Traore is from the moneyball standpoint, as he has a year left on his deal so can be brought in relatively cheaply while Gordon and Harrison are being quoted at £50m+ and James wouldn't be far behind that - but at that point we may as well also look for a player with similar attributes in the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 or Primeira Liga
Di Marzio says that Fulham have overtaken Nazio in negotiations for Reguilon, but isn't ruling out FC Mussolini just yet Daniele Longo claims that Malinovskyi will most likely be staying at Atalanta, even though he wants to join us - which does beg the question if he's on the hook while Paratici looks elsewhere, a backup for Traore /James, or a smokescreen for somebody we don;t know about yet
And here comes Perisic, who rolls it into Hojbjerg, he plays it forward to Kane who hits a first time pass out wide to Son, Son goes past his man, Traore's in acres of space on the opposite flank, Son crosses it and Traore's one on one with the keeper!!! .... Goal kick Fulham.
depressing reading. Regardless of how much/little any of those players cost, their stats are poor and we shouldn’t even be considering them.
There were people on here hoping we'd sign Traore back when Wolves were asking for £50m. Never forget. Those people should've been banned from the board if you ask me.
Not sure what else could the club have done? I think they’ve been clear with him all summer and even earlier than that, that he’s not in Conte’s plans. Even before any injury, there wasn’t anyone massively interested that he would consider anyway. If he’s happy being frozen out then that’s his choice.
