I know that, but I was astonished to find Cambridge were fielding a reserve team! They won't get to take it more seriously now, will they Bring out the giant killers! (not for us though)
Yes, given Arsenal and Brighton were still in the bowl, Sheffield Wednesday at home is a very nice outcome.
Great draw for us - at home against lower league opposition, with 7 all prem ties and at least 1 of the "big six" going out. Cup run definitely on the cards.
Sheffield Wednesday have got big boots to fill after last night. That was a cracking cup tie, fought in the right spirit with mutual respect from both clubs. Let's give the Owls a good reception. They're a decent bunch who don't deserve to be as far down the league as they are.
Next round isn't until 8th/9th November so a lot of PL teams will have to field weakened teams anyway. We'll be without Bednarek (if he's still here), Salisu if he's decided to play for Ghana again as had been reported, and possibly JWP and KWP. I would think we will put out as strong a team as possible as we won't have any games close to that date.
We have Liverpool away 3 days later, which is the last game before the WC. I'd be surprised if any team lost their internationals before the world cup break.
Hopefully Liverpool field a team of 11 full internationals, all crapping themselves about getting injured (and with the title race gone anyway).
I've been saying this for months. Not specifically about Liverpool but those last 2/3 weeks before the world cup are going to be fascinating and think we'll get a fair few shocks. Still think a week's gap is ludicrous mind but there we go. No idea what the normal break is for other leagues but would have thought it was more than that.
