My oldest and his girlfriend of 10 years has been offered a chance of a free house just pay gas and ele by his girlfriend's dad. She said no because she doesn't want the responsibility yet. They're 24.
Interesting how things turn out in life, I can remember when my youngest wanted to buy their own gaff, I was like trying to persuade him and his partner to stay at home, save up a bit more before making the move, but he went ahead, as kids do and landed on his feet. The difference with your scenario is there is no mortgage involved. Not sure how I would handle that situation, maybe help ween them towards their own responsibility by sharing a few more living costs, so that free house looks financially more tempting for them.
