“Scotland’s NHS is on an emergency footing, but I have no confidence that the SNP and Humza Yousaf are capable of restoring it to full health given their dire track record.”

Scots have made use of their powers over income tax, increasing the rates on higher earners and reducing them, slightly, on lower earners. The changes have been real and substantial, increasing revenues by about 4 per cent, or £500 million. Given that Scotland’s population is less than one tenth that of the UK, that’s equivalent to more than £5 billion in UK terms.

It has been claimed that left-wingers or liberals (US sense) tend to more often suffer from mental illness than right-wingers or conservatives. This potential link was investigated using the General Social Survey cumulative cross-sectional dataset (1972-2018).

Within-study meta-analysis of all the results found that extreme liberals had a 150% increased rate of mental illness compared to moderates. The finding of increased mental illness among left-wingers is congruent with numerous findings based on related constructs, such as positive relationships between conservatism, religiousness and health in general.

The conservative advantage seems to be their more griller attitude, of accepting inequality as reasonable, and thus focusing their time on playing a game fair, achieving their goals within the system such as it is. The left-wing mentality is more about complaining that life is unfair.
