Would expect Rashica to leave. Would then have Cantwell, Sinani, Hernandez, and Elis (if he comes) as our wide options, with Dowell, Ramsey and Sara battling it out for the No.8 spot next to Núñez. I imagine Smith wants competition for Hernandez as he doesn't trust Onel's ability to actually create much, despite his passion and energy. It's understandable. We all love Onel, but much of the time its wearing teams down, rather than doing much. Imagine having two speedsters to play left side. One to wear them down and possibly create, the other to pin them back in the last 20mins when they have been (hopefully) run ragged.
Odd one.....can understand a loan but not with an option to buy. As what would happen to Tzolis? Only way I could see this having legs is if we've already conceded that if we gain promotion, then Argos, tzolis & rashica aren't good enough / no longer wanted
Being credited with a potential move for Jamal Lowe too. Would love to see us get him (and possibly move Hugill on). Good player in the Championship
Sorry, can’t fathom who Argos is. Max Aarons? Must be my senior years. Also, who’s Jamal Lowe? Right, just found him: Bournemouth 7 goals in 34 matches and Swansea 14 goals in 51 matches. Doesn’t float my boat as they would say. Hugill was scoring freely pre season but DS obviously considers him not up to scratch. Idah seems to have been injured for months now, but I will be corrected by someone.
Argos is Onel Hernandez, shortly after he joined, he brought up his love for Argos in several interviews: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-norfolk-46950567
Disappointed we weren't interested, would have potentially fixed a lot of our backline issues. It does however prove definitively that Championship clubs can loan two players from the same Premier League club. So Jamal Lewis, Jacob Murphy, etc could be signed if there was a will.
Thanks DH Canary. I would dearly love for the Board to invest in a Pukki replacement who is capable of scoring at least 20 goals in Championship. Sargent seems to be coming good (for how long?) Pukki is not the same player as of old, I have never rated Idah and Hugill is out of favour. Sinani has 2 goals and three assists in all competitions and although he will never replace Beundia for quality, he might get close to being a natural substitute?
I have high hopes for Sinari who's a good fit at WR. The attention has rightly been on Sargent for his 3 goals in two games, but it was Sinari who provided the assists for two of those as well as scoring one himself. He also played a Buendia like long through ball which almost led to another goal. Credit to Smith for giving him the chance and I hope he continues to showcase his skills to produce goals.
Can I ask why you don’t rate Idah? For me: he was only 20 when he broke into the first team last year and was absolutely ferocious for a couple of matches, early on in Smith’s tenure - he was an outlet that relieves pressure and also scored goals, like Sargent has proven himself these last couple of matches. His performances instilled that brief patch of hope last season, and his injury ended up knocking us back into depressing losses. Now it might have been a coincidence of course, but that’s how I saw it - essentially, he’s too young to write off yet
This rumour looks a bit more realistic - a LB on loan for the season: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...er-fredrik-bjorkan-hertha-berlin-loan-9226450 It seems we have been interested before.
I'm starting to wonder about Idah as well, once he's fit he really needs to show what he's worth. Hugill was never going to play against Milwall, We were never going to out muscle them, if we'd have played Hugill we would have played right into their hands, Hugill's style of play relies on him bullying defenders.
The bit about the "study trip" to Bodø/Glimt is interesting, given that Knutsen was rumoured to be top of Webber's list of targets to replace DF.
For me, Hugill is a good option to bring on if we're chasing a game and need a goal. Tonight is his chance to stake a claim.
I don’t rate Hugill at all, for me I think we should look to sell him and go with Sargent, Pukki and Idah. Idah is young and has been unfortunate to be hit with injuries these past few years as soon as he looked to get somewhere in the first team. Hugill looks like a bit of a Donkey, he’s not as good as any of the above 3, pre season is nothing to get excited about, the marking for the goals against Marseille was awful. He’s too slow and his bullying normally ends up as a foul which is no use to us.
Kind of surprised by just how little transfer noise we've had around the club as we enter the final week of the window. A LB, CB, winger would all be sensible signings, and there's been the odd rumour, but really very little. If the club have clamped down on leaks then that's one thing, but even then I'd have expected agent/paper chat linking peripheral players at Premier League sides to us, and random overseas rumours too. I notice Jamal Lewis got 45 mins versus Tranmere tonight, he must be pleased that Newcastle got through otherwise he wouldn't be playing any more games until January.
I'm not sure we really need a winger with Springett and Rowe still currently at the club, however should they both go out on loan and someone offer us the money we paid for Rashica then we may do.
