I can see how that deal would have worked now, with Archer going to Watford on loan. I was wondering how they were able to condider selling both their main strikers and have us going after Pedro. But that Archer looks like a decent young prospect and he could get game time / experience at Watford that Villa can't neccessarily offer him right now.

Just seems odd that our targets have shifted from Nunez and Maddison to a prospect at Watford.

Sarr is the more proven player, so I dunno why we're not going for him.

I'm with you on this. As I said earlier, Pedro should be background noise, not front page news. He's a decent prospect, nothing more. I'm fine with it - it's more than likely an upgrade on bringing people like Wood and Murphy on - but I thought we would be adding to the first team and pushing the likes of Wilson and Almiron to the bench. That's usually how this kind of strengthening ambition goes.

I think Joao Pedro has the attributes Howe is wanting.

Yeah, I think that's it DPP.
Pedro just 'fits' the profile better.
While Sarr has more prem experience, the fact that his Villa move has collapsed largely due to his personal terms (it's now postrd on SSN website), shows that he might not be the kind you want to have in the dressing room.

I wonder if they’ll then over pay on deadline day?!

Whatever we're doing, it's not working. You'd think they'd change their approach by now.

It's really weird when you consider Ekitike probably isn't a £33m player and we couldn't have negotiated a lot lower than market price for either Botman or Bruno G. It's doing my head in to be honest. Everybody can see Harrison is a £30m player right now. Maddison is a £60m player right now. We either want them and pay or we don't, this weird middle ground is a little embarrassing.

Some of it may be paper talk, but then you get Goncalo Ramos, Benfica will take £25m and we then pull away and don't crack on. Sarr's similar, £24m, well within budget, £11m cheaper than Harrison but when the chance is there we don't take it. It's actually a bit reminiscent of Ashley's approach!
