Are you Irish or not? General prequisites for being Irish are, Irish ancestry, association with Irish culture (OO parades dont count) and willingness to integrate oneself with it, effort made to learn/speak the traditional language ("ulster scots" doesnt count) and EDGE..... no religion has nothing to do with nationality

Iv heard of it but dont understand the concept. My view of it is the descendants of the British settlers who have experienced a feeling from mainland of Britain of not sharing the same nationality (the mainland has turned their back on associating themselves with the loyalists of Ireland in other words) and so feeling no longer wanted as British have scrambled to manufacture an identity that allows them to continue identifying themselves as their own people and prevent themselves having to accept an identity as Irish.

All very petty and bigoted when you think about it.
