Chelsea are going nowhere this season without a striker. Rather than trying to fit about five different no.10s into their starting XI, how about starting players in their best positions (eg James is wasted at RCB) and signing someone more suitable than Havertz to play up top.
I don't disagree. I don't particularly think that Lukaku played poorly last season. They just didn't use him. Ultimately they got away with it, and managed to get a top four finish. But I don't see them getting away with it for a second season - Arsenal are so much stronger, and Spurs have Conte from the start.
Was just saying the same. Imagine the arrogance of rocking up to Leeds away with probably the best RB/RWB in the country and play him in the back three and put a central midfielder at RWB I don’t know why they tolerate Tuchel. Every since I think it was the 2021 cup final where he basically played 7 defensive players plus Mount. No desire to try and win at all And how they can sign a 100m striker and then give the manager a pass for refusing to try and find a way to get the best out of him I will never know. Sure it is not completely fair to dump a player he doesn’t want on him - but he would have known that when signing up for Chelsea
Agreed. Plus the likes of Leeds, Brighton, Brentford us have all got stronger and have the potential to take points off the bigger clubs.
45mill for Gordon is just hideous business. They should be grateful Everton turned it down and move on!
Very early days but this season looks so open. Not that I expect it to be saints but I think 1 or 2 european spots are up for grabs. United will do well to get top half. West Ham are off the pace and Leicester are in a bad situation at the moment with players wanting out.
Some of these opening results are likely to trigger lots of panic signings - and already have in some cases (Sarr to Villa makes no sense)
Ironically, Chelsea has developed a fatal case of Arsenal Syndrome (a mistaken belief that success is found by cramming as many attacking mids as possible into a lineup) at the same time that Arsenal has finally recovered from that affliction.
What’s the situation between Grealish and Almiron? They r referenced it a few times on 5live but not sure of the original story?
Grealish basically took the piss out of Almiron after the last game of the season saying something along the lines that miss was like almiron etc. or something like that.
City being taken apart on the counter attack. The selfishness from Foden to not lay it on a plate for Haaland last week didn't cost them. But it might today.
