Yes, Well done City.. much much better.. two very well taken goals, defending much better and our closing down with intent was superb.. Conway brilliant, Bentley did really well when called upon. Massengo 2nd half kept everything moving.. Well done NP and the players.. well deserved 3 points.. and fantastic to have another clean sheet..
Certainly seem to have gone very quiet!! This result reinforces my view that we have nothing to fear this season. A lot happier now than a couple of weeks back!!
Thought they were all great today but I have to mention Conway. What an all action player. Tight affair, thought we shaded it and deservedly won the game.
Getting the balance right is key. Today, the midfield were on it. An interesting dilemma awaits NP when Semenyo is fit if Wells, Conway and Weimann carry on playing this well.
The only way is up⚽️❤️⚽️❤️⚽️ Nigel Pearson getting it right-give the man credit it is coming together nicely. Imagine Semenyo and Conway up top devastating pace with wells or Weimann tucked behind. Naismith another man mountain performance. Williams-Messengo-Conway-wells fantastic again today. Special praise for Bentley getting his hand to the ball thought that was going in. 7 place three points of top happy days. Boo Boys run along Nige has them playing as one.
Overall we deserved the win. We outplayed them and looked sharp and dangerous throughout. It would have been a travesty, but on some occasions we have LOST games like that despite playing well. Had Cardiff taken their 2 golden chances - and had ‘that’ penalty been given then we could have lost 3-2. Funnily enough, when pondering the ‘penalty’ shout, I was thinking exactly what Steve Morison said in his post match interview ‘a foul is a foul, whether it happens in or outside the box’. On another day that might have been given - soft maybe but they get given sometimes. Anyway, we are well overdue some decisions going our way - particularly penalty decisions- and a bit of luck so I’ll happily take it - and as I said earlier overall we deserved it. I didn’t think the Martin penalty shout had any credence whatsoever - a bit embarrassed watching him crying for one tbh.
Outside the box I didn’t not think he’d have gone down tbh, not a foul anywhere on the park for me. Correct decision. Jays about 5”2 , he fell over like he’d been hit by a train.
I'm here now ROD. Logged off to watch the game and just recovered...... Well deserved win for you although we were probably as poor today as we were against Reading up there - and we lost that one too. BTW, the tagging system on the forums isn't working and hasn't for some time. I think Mick has got his spanners out to fix it but hasn't got one the right size.
Granted he was better second half, first haf he was poor. Wasted possession far too much, HNM was immense both halves.
Other side of the coin, O'Dowda didn't look very convincing despite recent reports eminating from Cardiff.
Ashton and RR. Thought Massengo and Williams individually did well and importantly complimented each other.
Just popping over to say well done. Deserved win for you lot today. Could have been different had we taken the chance that was missed by Watters to put us 1-0 up but that's all could have, would have, should have.... Big difference today was your boys were just sharper up top and worked a bit harder than we did. Hopefully we avoid the double again this year. Still think we'll finish above you come the end but there was enough there to think we'll both be ok this year.
The reports emanating from Cardiff are correct, but he wasn't at the races today - convincing he was not.
Nice response Brizzle, by the way congrats on your matchday thread, good use of the Dads Army format..
