AJ did better, but not enough to take the belts back. He could fight him 100 times and the result would be the same. Usyk is just too talented.
If that was the 1st fight AJ wins - should have led with that. Ultimately Usyk much better boxer and AJ not willing to risk it by going all out.
He had success on the body a couple of times throughout the fight but never seemed to back it up. Whether that was due to fatigue or Usyk taking the punches well, who knows. I wonder what is next for AJ. I think he has 3 options: 1. He rebuilds over a few years and earns a title shot in good 24/25 2. Takes a "do or die" fight against Wilder - a loss for either fighter and it is retirement. 3. Retire after a great career
He should do option 1. I expect he will do option 3. He has a complete meltdown after the fight. I got second hand embarrassment watching that. Cringeworthy
I hope for 2 - simply because it would be a good watch. 100% agreed on the cringe though. Was pleading at the tv for him to give Usyk the mic. "Whats gone on in Ukraine... it's not good is it?" Jesus christ mate, understatement of the year.
Wilder will not fight him. The WBC are falling over themselves to make him champion, hence his upcoming fight against Helenius. He could wait and see if Fury faces Usyk (unlikely IMO) but there’s not much else he can do in the way of big fights.
Usyk will either retire or fight Fury If Fury doesn’t come out of retirement to fight then all the belts will be vacated and AJ can win them all by beating Chisora or something and be labelled the greatest
Wow, Charles and Max both starting from back of the grid at Spa. That’ll be fun (and a big chance for the Merc boys, and Sainz/Perez).
Think they'll struggle to beat Sainz, but it's Spa, so anything could happen. EDIT: Plus, of course, Sainz drives for Ferrari, so literally anything could happen...
I just don’t think he’s worked out his setup this weekend (and frankly he’s probably binned the idea of the title now).
