Not happy that I missed a large chunk of the game (IPTV working fine now) but I did say in the first post of the thread that Leicester isn’t a place to fear, given our results there over the last 20 years or so. Really want to see ABK for a full 90+ minutes, in a back 4 to see if he’s as good as he seems to be. It looked as if Leicester had planned to target him at the beginning of the game but I guess they got that tactic wrong. Also would have loved to have seen Djenepo for the full game (curse you IPTV and your Saturday afternoon meltdowns- love you really), as I like the attacking intent he brings to the game. Am I on duty for the Cup game Tuesday?
Up to you really, the experiment of having separate thread streams for league and cup didn’t do too well last season!
Another Lavia comment from me, but it’s crazy how an 18 year old has elevated our midfield and overall play so much.
I was raving about him to the person next to me, in particular when he dropped deep to pick up a pass from Bazunu and drilled a perfect 40 yard pass to KWP on the right. What a pick up.
I am travelling to the US for work on Monday and arrive back at Heathrow at 8am Saturday. I had already said to my dad that his friend could have my ticket for the Man U game, but after watching that I am trying to work out the chances of clearing customs, getting back to Bournemouth and then back to St Mary's in time for 12:30 kickoff. Thinking about it, heading into B'mth on a Bank Holiday weekend at about 10am...I'll have to watch on BT Sport.
Just reading Leicester forum - they absolutely despise Brendan. Think he’s worse than Puel. Also reminded me of how little fans of other clubs know about us.
Just got back and still buzzing. The fact that we won and Vardy did **** all in the game made it even sweeter. The "Jamie Vardy, your wife is a grass" and the "Roooooooooooooonnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" chants were highly amusing. I'm still working to work out the biggest positive from today: the reaction to going behind: Lavia, Che's impact off the bench, ABK and Salisu or Baz. But I think we've signed some very special young players. So impressed by the team's reaction to going behind, particularly for one so young. Fans were immense, particularly after Leicester scored. We just sensed there was a result to be had even when 1-0 down. Although I wasn't very pleased with the "we never win at home and never win away" chant just after Maddison's goal. Hopefully that can be binned for ever now. Che desperately unlucky not to have a hat-trick despite being on the pitch for half an hour! What an impact and it's great to see Ralph's changes making positive impacts. I just don't see how we can sell him after that unless someone comes in with stupid money. He bullied Leicester's defenders and they had no answer.
Potentially we have our best CB pairing in many years and in football terms, they’re babies. Vardy hardly had a sniff today with Basunu having very little to do. ABK my man of the match just ahead of Che. Couple more new signings and I think we potentially have our best squad since the Koeman years, and will be very competitive.
Thank you. I read this, realised you were right and lumped on big at 5/1. Easiest fiver I've ever earned. I'd say I owe you a pint but not sure a fiver would get one in the sort of high-fallutin' places you football hangers-on frequent. Vin
Yep - I was there that night and the similarity of the goals is a bit spooky. I noticed JWP playing more on the right in the 2nd half and I was hoping for one of his trademark crosses. He delivered. That right foot is just lethal.
And you can very much see the team we intend to become. We aren't there yet, but we're a couple players and some familiarity away from being pretty dynamic.
I admit from my position in the stand I was questioning the position of the wall but it was just a pinpoint free kick from Maddison.
