The clue is in the term "character witness". As opposed to witness to the incident itself.

If you accept that someone giving evidence to his character has nothing to do with any alleged assault elsewhere then why are you throwing insults at SAF for? He's not commenting on the assault but on his character from what he knows of him - i.e. character witness.

It happens all the time. If you have a problem with it, I suggest you take it up with the judiciary <ok>

    Nah, it's just pathetic.

I wouldn't use those terms towards Shankly or Paisley or any great manager whose retired from the game.

Shows a complete lack of class.

I'm a (reluctant) admirer of Ferguson. I know that he himself worshipped Shankly. Good lineage there. Whilst you're right though that a character witness is not saying that you know how he treats women (which begs the question of why he's there in that case, as the whole prosecution argument is that Giggs is Jeckyl and Hyde when it comes to women), I ask myself why Danni Behr, whom he put in the hospital, and several girlfriends over the years that United's solicitors had to frequently bail Giggs out about (and whom Ferguson himself must know of) are not also testifying about his 'good' character? I mean Johnny Depp seemed to have an army of exes lining up to say that while he could be a ****, he was never violent towards women: Giggs - so far, anyway - hasn't had one. Then again, and given what's happened previously, if they did roll up to defend him the cynic in me would be thinking United's solicitors were at work again.

Must be very careful what we say though, as the case is still at trial. But whatever the outcome, we'll hear more of Giggs' past after the verdict. It's not something I'd give him a character witness for, to be sure. :emoticon-0112-wonde

But yes, SAF shouldn't be castigated for being blindly loyal to somebody he seems to look upon as an adopted son, but I don't think his evidence should be taken as anything but that - blind loyalty. And I don't think he should be praised for that either.

    Raheem Sterling on his final season at City;

"When you play your heart out, sacrifice some of your kids' birthdays, and then get treated in a certain way, it's disappointing. At the time I was fuming, raging, but it's gone, it's in the past."
    (Sky Sports)

How detached from society can you be? I'm sure £350k a week makes it easier, most people miss their kids birthday just to put food on the table! Prick!!!

    Yup.

    Joker.

So he's moved to chavtown to do what? Work less?

Well guess what.... whatever else city might be they are also a pep team with pep standards so honestly I kind of expect him to fall away now as a footballer as he has all bit admitted he is not up for the work.

As expected spurs out lasted wolves. A goal was coming and then after a tap in header spurs sit back and counter

Wolves just didn't offer real scoring threat

Gillette soccer Saturday claim Alan sheaers goal record will never be broken due to var ruling out goals.

    Hmmmm.

La liga legends messi and ronaldo (in teams as dominant as city, but no more dominant) scored 40 and 50 a season.

Shearers record would be 26 goals a year in league for 10 years. Sounds massive but 40 a season it's in those kind of players remit.

I think eventually the money will become more one sided and someone will break thst record.

Maybe he will. He's only 55 short so in theory that's 2 great seasons away. 30 and 25 league goals.

Or in other worlds over 4 years of a dwindling career he can still play in the box and take pens and get 15 a season

You are right, only injury maybe?

    Interesting results.

Fulham draw with us. Then beat Brentford who hammered man utd.

Palace who got 2 breakaway and 1 goal,in a draw with us beat Villa well. Killed them.

    Makes me feel slightly better.

Everton really struggling for goals as predicted. Playing ****e long hoof from pickford to gray. Lampard under pressure.

    Villa hmmm trouble for gerrard.

Leicester result really poor. Southampton look like strugglers so losing this this imo piles on pressure. Bad home loss.

All 3 for sure are bang in the sack race

Aresnal are looking better this season. Think Odegard is a decent player, wasted his time in Spain, should have come to us.

Arsenal doing OK in easy games. Big tests yet to come.

I still do not think they have what is needed behind the vast numbers of attacking midfielders.

4 from 5 though, it's going to be competitive this season for positions 2 to 5.

I do think Chelsea are a bit all over the place and spurs are not as far along as they think they are. Arsenal have tests to come

The trend thus far is the English league has decided that it'd be best to allow pulling and dragging right up to the application of studs at which point cards come out.

I feel like this is like when Leicester won the thing with two lumps at the back and two blockers in front of that and a couple fast players up top to get 1-0.

For me our game plan is about fair play and fast moving forward so it's negated when a hacker of a defender can lay on hands and hold and drag and stop attacks.

8 feel we will do better in Europe where the only thing allowed is diving and screaming at the merest touch.

I can see1city walking this **** show while others have lots of draws

Barely got a draw last week when they should have lost and struggled to a 1-0 today against Wolves at home.

If Spurs think they can get close to Citeh with that they're more deluded than normal.
