I really don't care what these players get paid( not earn) It is beyond comprehension, there is more talk nowadays of wages, signing on fees, bonuses etc than actual football. The beautiful game?
And I totally agree with you there Este, as it does seem unfathomable that when a club spends 100m on salaries and it's deemed to be one of the lowest in the league, something somehow has gone wrong with the game of football
Jesse seems to have been bigging up Struijk and saying hes happy with our LB situation well I guess Pascal is going to be tested on Sunday with Reece James running at him and then on the other side Kristensen will be facing Cucerela the hairy they bought from Brighton
Having slept on this i have come to realise i used the wrong reply. I should have resorted to your standard. But seeing as i believe in this forum and everyones right to opinion you have no chance. Jesse Marsch was answering loaded questions about players coming in.So he gave a general answer and gave nothing away. This Romano guy is making out he said specific stuff. All he said was it's possible dominoes will fall so causing players to become avaliable. Something every football fan already knows happens every transfer window.
I’m not knocking your analysis or research mate, it just comes over like Doc doesn’t wish to accept Rodrigo is the highest paid at £100k a week. It doesn’t bother me that he is ( or isn’t) the day we signed him I was ecstatic about his pedigree, it was pretty obvious he’d have to become the highest paid at the club to get him.
Rich I dont think anyone knows what salaries our players are on and you could well be right. Spanish wages in La Liga are well below the levels we get in the prem and yet you say Rodrigo was on £135k in Spain so took a pay cut to come here? Again you could be correct mate Im just querying it.
This is what I’ve always found strange about Phil Hay Romano is nearly always right, when he is wrong it had substance, he is Italian and I assume living in Italy with no affiliation to Leeds Phil Hay lives in Leeds, he has worked for a local paper in the area, he can get to ER when he likes, he can bump into players, he’s had years doing what he does and hasn’t managed to obtain a single reliable source He has never been first to a story, he is sometimes 48 hours behind still quoting the obvious, how he makes a living doing what he does is beyond me
I realised that Ristac, the reason for my reply was that you stated it was common knowledge on every source you look up that Rodrigo is on 100k per week, and yet I had to do the research I did because every source I looked it was so inconsistent with the salaries players were earning, that the only way I could be confident of my figures being reasonably correct, was going by data taken from audited accounts. So whilst I freely admit that I believe that Rodrigo is on 100k per week, that's all it is, a belief, there is no real evidence of that I have been able to find, that turns an opinion into a possible fact . That was the point I was trying to make with my anally retentive reply
No he didn’t. He added the name of the player his sources have told him Marsch was referring to. I’m presuming he wouldn’t mention the name unless he was fairly confident that he was correct. I’m not saying he is or isn’t right, just that he rarely gets it wrong.
Oh. And for the record, if he’s not prem ready, then for me, forget it. We have enough of those in Joffy, Perkins and Joseph.
I don't know where this "Joffy isn't Prem ready" has come from. For me he is up there with Bamford as #1 striker. His performance at Brentford in the last game was excellent. His problem is his niggly injuries he seems to constantly pick up. Dead legs, jolted back etc. The fact that last season Bamford was out long term and I'm guessing Joffy missed 5 or 6 games with little injuries is my issue. We are 2 games in and Bamford is out with a groin injury and Joffy has a dead leg. It's very reminiscent of the whole of last season and it got us in trouble. A third striker would really help us out.
Nonsensical if you ask me, if Bamfords not playing then surely Joffy should start and if it doesnt work out then shove Rodrigo up top and James on the right like the second half of last week. But give the kid a go instead of benching him because it just shows a lack of confidence in him
I don't think it's a lack of confidence. It might be my memory playing tricks but I recall most pressers from last season being about "Bamford improving but not on the training pitch and Joffy has had a couple of knocks and he is being protected from them becoming more long term issues". Bamford is injury prone the last 12 months and Joffy always seems to be carrying a knock or isn't quite fit enough to start. When Joffy was fully fit he tended to start in the absence of Bamford. He's just never 100% fit. We are carrying 2 strikers who can't put a run of games together. We don't have a third striker unless Sinisterra can play up top. James looks useless. Don't let the form of Rodrigo lull you in to him being the answer as a 9, he's been shocking everytime he's played there. The two available targets of Adams and Maupay may look **** to most but they fit the system well and they will know they won't necessarily be first choice here. They would be good on the bench and more than capable of starting games if we have an injury crisis. Sell Dan James to finance one of them.
