I mean, to an extent, they are. I do think that if they were in for him then he would go there. Our best chance is that they have put their money elsewhere after just spending £46m on another portuguese lad.
Depends. You’d imagine that our sell to him is starting every week in the premier league and a guaranteed sale to a bigger club when they come knocking. Wolves have spent a lot of money themselves recently on two attackers, so playing time might not be as much of a guarantee, and who knows whether FFP would effect them here. Also, aside from Jota they tend to keep their best players.
Ramos and Mara up front for a few years is quite a sexual prospect. And yes, it’s a big outlay. But only in terms of our history. It’s really not an awful lot this year.
Which isn't really an unfair comment. He signed a new deal only a few months ago, and Benfica isn't exactly hurting for cash after selling Darwin. £25m isn't massive money. But if their reps did actual meet ours in person, it would suggest that it isn't a million miles off from their valuation.
Like you said - it isn’t an unfair comment but would seemingly not be an accurate one because if the fee was looking well north of 30m then the talks would probably already be over There are people pointing to the meeting being a little while ago and nothing happening but there are UCL qualifiers and also I would assume if the meeting was a while ago and the deal was determined to be impossible then (for us financially) - that would also have come out
Yes I don’t think they are in a position to sign two forwards this window and seem to be prioritising him I have the athletic podcast where they are discussing why Newcastle aren’t going absolutely crazy this summer queued up. Because I thought there were videos from the takeover where people suggested they could because Ashley had spent far less than he could have done (but a lot more than newcastle fans would have you believe) Admittedly a massive chunk of that went out in January which might well be a large part of the answer
If they are going for Ramos, it could depend on when they get that £45m, I should imagine MGW going at that inflated price included a lot of caveats.
