Wouldn't read too much into it. He is a Celtic player talking to a Scottish paper. How stupid would he look to say he'd rather stay at Southampton and he isn't offered a contract. He may feel that Celtic are unfinished business. When he arrived he said it was all up in the air..nothing has changed except he's played well in a run of games. Fonte says on OS that he'd like Jos to stay and that he keeps telling him that Southampton is better than Glasgow. Loanees go back..it happens, but let's hope at least that his loan spell can be extended.

 

Thankfully he doesn't use words like "want" or "would like" in terms of returning to Celtic. I get the impression that he's simple being a model professional and respecting his parent club. Very admirable and loyal.

I also get the feeling though they if Celtic don't want him back, then he would most certainly like to stay here.

 

Wonder what his wages are? May be a lot higher at Celtic than he would get at Southampton.

 

Fonte did a feature in today's programme about how he wants Jos to stay. Would seem odd if there's nothing going on.

 

To be fair, he is loving it at the moment and if there is a chance of us extending the deal or making it permantely he will put pen to paper, the fact that the players want him to stay (twitter banter is very funny) and most importantly Fonte his partner has expressed that he wants him to stay. It all bodes well and makes sense to sign him. I would be more than happy for him to sign, very honest player and always nice to see him being the last person off the field after thanking the supporters.

 

I would to see him stay on a permanent basis as he is getting better and better

 

I would like to get his loan extended to the end of the season.
