It was never anything more than a gimmick, everyone knew it at the time, same with the flights to Africa, sound bites rather than sound policy is the order of the day, and it works thats the rub.
Both parties have let the area down for decades, and the centre parties are toothless under the current system, thats why we need some sort of proportional representation. not a two horse race in which both parties are the winners in reality. One lot is paid to line pockets, the other paid to do nothing, both accruing pensions worth a fortune and awarding themselves honours for doing so, all this overseen by Royal Patronage whatever that means in real life terms.
