Know nothing about him other than he’d be a bit silly to give up first team football a few months before a World Cup… which would suggest we see him for the first team. otherwise surely he’d be wanting to stay there until January (for instance we could sign him and loan back)
Same here, these types of signings are exciting - its the unknown of what we are going to get. My fave player was Julio Arca, a player none of us knew about before he joined. This boy looks quick and isnt afraid to get on his man - he gets to the byline a lot
I am not a massive fan of loans really. That is not to say we wont make any, but they need to be something very specific for me. Premier League clubs will demand a certain amount of playing time so they need to be really good players. Ellis Simms is a good example, you can see why he is on loan, and in a year where we probably dont want to spend massive fees which a top centre forward would cost, getting him makes total sense. We can then spend our money on other positions. What we dont really want, in my opinion, is a starting 11 with more than 1 or 2 loans in it, this season. Time to start growing our own much more, if we really want to be the sustainable club we hear about.
counter attacking late in games feels like it’s going to be key for us this year. Could be a great option to stretch things
Agree don’t think Man U were happy he didn’t get much game time for Rangers but hes barely played any first team games just wasn’t up to the speed of proper football week in week out This lad from Costa Rica seem to be a better fit for our model. Young lad but with a lot of real game time under his belt including full internationals. Will need a lot of patience while he finds his feet but looks an interesting one
Roker Report lad reckons it doesn’t involve a loan back agreement like, so he must back himself for our first team if that’s the case
100% agree just seems to be the way it goes at this level now prem teams hoover up the talent and send them out for others to develop
We need better than cover ! We need players that will go straight into the team pushing players onto the bench who will then cover. He’s talking ****e, no point in adding a player to the squad that isn’t already better than what we have.
Would be a great signing tbh, especially if Diamond goes. Gives us more depth, thought we still need midfielders, defenders and a keeper.
One point that needs to be considered is that the very rich Premier clubs have huge squads,as they vacuum in all available talent. In years gone by this was not so prevalent. So its likely that more young talented players from those clubs who cannot break into the 1st team will become available for loan.
I know, and they have signed about 15 new players this season and who knows what the future pitfalls financially of that will be. It doesnt look like a sustainable model at Forest to me, more like an owner with a plaything. Hope I am wrong, loads of forest mates, but I know at least a few are worried about it all.
Agree 100%. Be great if Ellis Simms joins too at the end of this season. I just dont think a significant number of loanees is the way we will god if we are building the sustainable model KLD talks about. Much more likely we will see deals like this lad from Costa Rica, where we commit to developing someone we own, rather than somebody else's player.
All just a big gamble but at the end of the day would you rather have for arguments sake James Garner, a £20m+ midfielder, in the middle of the park controlling games or Matete/O’Nein because they’re our player? I don’t mind loans but I’d prefer us to be adventurous and go for it. Have a look at the European powerhouses, I’m sure there’s an abundance of young players they’d rather have playing championship football than u23/B team football. How many young highly rated players do they sign and loan them straight out? We should be all over that. Experience in English football, where the money is and a potential future transfer, has got to be a massive incentive for foreign clubs.
One of my biggest hates in the modern game mate. I would slap a limit on clubs loaning out players, maximum of 5, would soon solve a few problems where top clubs take advantage of the system and EPPP. We have a cat1 academy of our own and there has to be a pathway through to the first team. That is something everyone at the club talks about a lot, and I agree with. It is why I only want to see us with a small number of loans from prem clubs. Young players want to see the opprtunity to play for the club.
