Yep, he's someone who has got more stick than he probably deserves, a bit like Matt Targett before him, they are solid enough pros without exotic flashy names and i'm sure he'd do a job for someone if he does move on like Matty has.
It would be a good move for him, at this stage in his career it’s beyond time he becomes a regular first teamer and I think he would do a decent job in the Championship.
I still maintain selling Targett when we did was a mistake, at the point he left he was better than Bertrand imo. Bertrand was a much much better player at his peak, but I think we were slow to realise his rate of decline.
I think the argument at the time was that he was too slow to play LWB, but he is a much better crosser than Bertie.
Talk is that apparently Stephens is going on a permanent deal. I wonder what kind of fee we would be able to get ?
Think they will probably get a piece too. I’m sure he would have had a sell on percentage as he was only 17(?) when he joined. Probably good news for them to get a few quid unexpectedly.
FM always had it as 15%. That is obviously not solid data but it’s reasonable to think it’s about that much.
I'd never begrudge a sell on percentage payment to a club like Plymouth, its small potatoes to us as a club, but great for Argyle.
Sometimes I’m sure but it’s not something I’ve heard of before. Sometimes they can be settled early if clubs can make a deal. For example, we had bonuses and payments linked to Walcott when he went to Arsenal but we settled them with Arsenal as we needed money.
Lot of talk about us and James Garner. Good player but don't think we really need a CM as a priority.
