Edited, didn't realise Targett would be fit

    If Targett is fit -

    --------------------Willson------------------
    Almiron-Joelinton-Bruno-Willock-Murphy
    Targett-----Burn-------Schar-----Trippier
    ---------------------Pope--------------------------

I don't see much point in playing ASM in this game. We'll be pinned back in our own half a lot of the game. Our best chance though, is to flood the midfield and put pressure on them.

ASM will get caught out a lot in his own half, and we need a more defensively astute, harder working LM for this game.

I'd consider bringing ASM off the bench and see what happens.

    Prediction is 0-2 City unfortunately.

    Haaland and De Bruyne.

I'm just glad that if we lose it isn't a disasterous start to the season.

Fraser instead of Murphy for me. And Targett for Burn. Agree with 0-2.

We’re going to win. We need to play our game and not focus on theirs. Get Joelinton to go in hard on whichever girl they play (Grealish/Foden) in the first 5 minutes.

Target needs to go straight back in and you're on glue picking Murphy mate.

Max at home all day long .. just get out there at home and have a go . It's a free hit

There's no need for dramatic formation changes either we're doing very well so far.

I just hope Grealish has a shocker. We'll lose but a 3-1 with Almiron scoring or assisting whilst small man Jack fluffs his lines would ease the pain a touch.

I think the fan base always liked Miggy as he tries so hard but those comments really did buy him extra support from the stands at a point where many had given up on him.

Yes our fans can be like an extra man at times with the noise and atmosphere.

Every time Grealish touches the ball he is going to get grief and if Joelinton smashes him early doors you just never know.

City are just another team to crumble under the noise at St James.

I only put Burn LB because I don't know if Targett is fit.

Fair enough i think it was just a dead leg , so should be OK

It presents howe a problem because he's going to have to drop a cb .

Fraser is useless and tbh Max isn't good enough either, but this idea Fraser is more effective is based on nothing but people's imagination.

Fraser didn't really start to hit form until recently though. He's been a different player under howe.

Plus I;m not saying drop ASM for fraser permanently, I just mean for this game where we need someone helping out the defence more and losing possession less.

That's why Murphy or Fraser would be a better option.

Is there anything in those stats that you would like to argue with?

Fraser isn't good enough... max isn't either, but I'd rather face fraser than max if i was the defender especially away from home

Stats also require intepretation. Like I said, Fraser is a different player under howe. Most of those games he was in a completely different side.

3 of maxi's goals game under a different manager last season.

Fraser had similar returns to Maxi in 2022.

Think of the players who are now far better under howe and how **** they were before?

Like I said, I'm not making an argument to swap Fraser for Maxi permanently, just for this game where Maxi will be pinned back in his own half and therefore be a liability.

We need energy, defensive work and consistency on the ball, and Fraser provides that.

    Just for games like these.

I know ASM is better over all, you're not understand my point that I'm only saying this swap should be for games like City.
