Song was a bit fortunate to stay on the pitch, part of the reason that Wenger brought him off (as well as to add more attacking options) - we got lucky with a few decisions, but to be honest I couldn't give a flying **** - they went in our favour, we've had plenty go against in the past, so all that matters to me is that we beat Barca. The rest is just guff on the same level as schoolgirl gossip
Honestly mate, if you'd seen the match after song got booked which was warrented everytime he tackled a barca player they were down on the deck rolling about clutching their ankles and screaming, 10 seconds later they were up taking the freekick when they saw Song hadn't been booked again.
Sounds about right. To be honest, like Pikeysurfer says, it's all academic. Sometimes you get the decisions, sometimes you don't. There's no conspiracy and the ref isn't sitting on a tropical island with a big suitcase full of used notes. All that matters is Arsenal 2 - 1 Barcelona.
Yeah...you keep on trying to explain to me about 'Arsenal won't beat Barcelona' - 'When you come up against decent opposition you crumble' - 'You'll get ripped apart' - 'It's no contest' and yet reality proves you to be a ****ing idiot Keep em coming Edmund
Many of the so called 'opinions of berbnanidez' are actually claims of fact, rather than opinions. This post is therefore a lie, a DAMN LIE!
Just want to go back to that offside goal, the article on goal talks about video evidence...i dont class some bloke using the slow-mo function on his sky box as video evidence. if they swung that camera round so it was level you would see messi's knee is in front of pedro, therefore making him offside as its any part of the body you can score with means you are offside.
It's not any part of the body. This isn't like photo-finishes in horse-racing. Benefit of the doubt should go to the attacker, though there really was no doubt
You are scraping the barrel so badly there. The rules state: A player is in an offside position if: • he is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent Not his knee, not his toe, not his hair, he. The whole player. Besides which, if you look at the lines on the grass, you can see Messi was way behind Pedro when the ball rebounded. Or are we supposed to believe that Messi's femur is three foot long? Why can't some Arsenal fans just admit that they were lucky to get that decision?
But at newcastle, RVP's foot was offside when we scored at 4-4. There are major problems with the rules
There will always be problems with the rules. But Messi was clearly onside - regardless of whether your measure it from his knee, head, arse or testes, he was behind the ball. Anyway, as I'm pretty sure we have already agreed, it's all irrelevant now. Which makes me wonder why some guy had to try and drag us back to it just cos he can't accept his team had a bit of luck...
Luck, skill, compassion. or what ever. Its not a win, its half time and we got destroyed at camp nou the last time, yes we take a lead but barca are still clear favourites. We wont go there to defend we not man city, we are arsenal ( said like this is spartan)
I wasnt dragging it back, it was brought up earlier in the thread. Besides its only really united fans going on about the offside goal, every other fan has congratulated us for a great performance and a historic win, united just cant take not being in the limelight. Rules state any scoring part of the body, his knee was off, you can score with your knee, therefore offside. Fact.
None of Messi's body was offside, what are you talking about? The whole of his body was behind the ball when it was passed.
