I agree but I am just trying to come up with a potential explanation as to why it hasn’t happened yet. Those who can play on both sides are hard to find. It quickly appeared as a big hole in pre seasons. Perhaps we thought Perraud would recover better / more quickly Especially as our lack of full back depth the season before last caused us serious issues
That's the managers prerogative, I'm glad Che is back in and if Aribo is dropped so be it, Stu is in so that's good, I can't find much to fault about that line up TBH. The bench looks good with Aribo, Romeo and Mara to bring on if and when we need them.
Well I was in the middle of writing something longer about a pretty famous example of “just play your best players” really not working. With the reminder being on the box right now as the two of them forced together being managers of the teams that have just played. I stopped because it is slightly different in that Aribo wouldn’t be being crowbarred into this team - it is clearly tactical It does still link to how it isn’t as simple as just looking at a list of your best players
It's not as simple as that though is it, otherwise we wouldn't even need a manager. It's tactics set up against the other teams style of play, it's things like the heat which has been mentioned, it's things like little niggles and knocks a player may have where they move to the bench, it's how they have done in training, maybe everything Ely and Adams has touched has turned to gold this week and Aribo and A.Armstrong have had stinkers. So many factors which we will never know about, let's just get behind the team and trust the process, that's pretty much all we can do.
I agree with your point but there are less condescending ways of disagreeing with someone's opinion in my view.
Fair enough. I’m not sure anyone really wants the 3 at the back with Djenepo at left wing back. But the only option I could see given the players available would be to put JWP on the right and KWP on the left. Which arguably is the same issue just reversed. A more composed but slower out of position player in one of the wing back roles I’m not sure Valery as either right back or right wing back would work much better than having Djenepo. It is frustrating that full backs are an issue again Hopefully Lavia continues to show promise today and we have a good showing. And that the crowd don’t groan too much at backwards or wayward passes
My preference, assuming Perraud is injured would be: Bazunu JWP ABK Sally Sue KWP Lavia Romeu S Armstrong Che Aribo I’m sure there’s a reason Djenepo remains at wing back. I feel (slightly) more comfortable with JWP at right back though. Would bring back Romeu in the centre and have a 4 man defence. Anyway, I’m trying to be positive. COYR!
Thanks mate. Has been horrendous in this heat. Coming out the other side now but my wife and daughter have it. 3 points would perk me up!
Know the feeling - just coming out of it myself. I keep thinking just how bad it must have been before the vaccines prepared our immune systems for this. Vin
