the players we sold all made it good in the prem ... had we made it into the prem with the likes of webster/ brownhill/ et al we may have done a season and banked £100m then we could done a Burnley! sold off our asset players and made a few £m more.......... but that is all conjecture, we may have just wallowed in the upper reach's of the championship top 8 as opposed to giving it all up in Feb 21 to wallow in the wallow 8?
Thats picking a different side of the argument!!! having sold them denied the prospect of promo so no £100m+... keeping them we would have just been an above average champ team .. so likely within FFP at that point we had not been paying £20k a week to players!
No it isn’t if we hadn’t sold them we would have either gone bust, or if SL covered the cost we’d have failed FFP, selling them allowed us to balance the books/stay within FFP limits.
go back and read the accounts for years from 2017/18 and see the basis to make a base to support the argument you are trying to follow ...........
Part of The reason COVID hit us so hard is because part of our business model was to sell players at a profit, this obviously stopped during COVID and won’t return in the foreseeable future. Obv there are other factors too, lack of footfall, having to pay back SC revenue, lack of corporate events etc , but revenue from selling players was a large part of our problem and it’s why we’re having to change fundamentally how we operate, hence NP having to offload high earners and having little funds to buy players, pay wages. In short reduce operating costs.
well the last hustings and votes have to be in and that might be a problem as the PO is on strike so how many votes may not make the dead line? It would take quite a few peeps to count 160,000 votes Truss or Sunak ...... well AFTER ALL THE hustings of the past month or so I would say we have a lesser pair than first thought. Sunak acts like the "presenter of a ficticious B grade film ... bounding on stage with a smarmy smile pointing at "items on the set" his bullying over talking has been controlled a little [ probably his backers telling him to do so ] Unless we fully understand the consequences of what they propose we do not have a clue ... Truss has done well but also made a few boobs small ones with maybe a poor attempt at humour .... neither has a good plan for the future, however one comment she made makes more sense than Sunak's " I cant make future plans [economy] without being in the seat and seeing what the problems are and working out an answer! A comment by Sunak, regarding the handling of COVID and the "proffessors" is a bit awry! he was in support of them and their guidance was of paramount importance.. did any MP know more than they did certainly not BORIS or Rishi .. so whats his game on that one... sour grapes? 160,000? well we are in the hands of 80,001 people voting for our selected .............. after many deliberations and Wellingtons I find the lesser of 2 evils is LIZ
Governments of the western world plus the likes of Australia and New Zealand will hugely regret their decision to impose multiple lockdowns on their citizens while killing their own economies and small business owners in the years to come. For Sunak to come out with that last week was simply confirming what most people think of their respective governments and the way they mishandled Covid by listening to scientists and experts who it turns out were not the authorities on the subject we were led to believe. All hindsight of course, but had the truly vulnerable been offered protection, then the rest of society may have been able to carry on functioning.
I dont think Covid in anyway was mishandled. It was an evil thrust upon the world that had no instant fix. A volatile spreader with devastating implecations taking anyone no matter how ill or healthy into its grip. It did show however the people who had strong or weak immune systems?? The scientists were really the only people who understood it [ not all just those working in the similar virus type fields ] THEY COULD UNDERSTAND the workings of the virus but needed to dig deep to work out the best way to control it. Other Viruses mutate but all in different ways .. to mutate it has to have a new host! the same virus in Newcastle [ an identical clone ] of one in Newquay would cease if it was robbed of a home. With a lifespan outside of its host of say a week it perish! One comment I made at the start was " at 6pm everyone in the UK stays indoors for a week " only people outside are emergency services medical staff are kept in Quarantine and only people needing hospital in strictly controlled transport allowed to leave" .. of course a nigh impossible action! but centuries ago that is how some diseases were controlled "no contact" people isolated etc ... I am still lucky person as is my wife ... not had it yet .. and her job was in a carehome! [ they only lost 2 or 3 and they were old old age pensioners! ] I never believed they were out and out authorities, and I suspect many of them had the same opinion .... doing the best with what they knew / had available
Sorry John, as more and more evidence emerges it's becoming clear that it was mainly the very elderly or those with underlying health issues that were most at risk. Governments everywhere destroyed travel, hospitality and many other working elements, plus children's education, it's caused mental health issues for possibly millions which may continue for decades, and it's wrecked the world economy. And as for injecting healthy children with 100% working immune systems ! And now, despite all the previous promises from a miracle vaccine that was supposed to stop us getting Covid, let alone transmitting it, both of which were untrue as we've since discovered, we're now running at an 'unexplained death rate' above the usual average mortality rate in excess of over 1,000 people a week just in the UK. This is apparently due to vaccine side effects that when posted or alluded to on social media are taken down in seconds by the likes of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, undiagnosed serious illnesses during lockdown that weren't caught in time, and alcohol and drug related deaths etc etc all can be indirectly attributed to Covid and lockdowns. So the death toll from the other effects of Covid rather than from the disease itself, could far outweigh those who perished initially if current levels are maintained. It's scary
Must remember to tell the families of my 2 friends that died of Covid. They will be pleased to know that they had underlying illnesses.
Been my thoughts from the start mate.. Now pharmaceuticals battling out regarding copyrights and who should be making the most profit..? I’m glad none of that sh!t (jibby jab) entered my system..probably why I’ve not had it) Ahh shucks I promised myself not to comment on this subject again!!
And the 1000s of family members and loved ones (some I knew) that had delayed treatment to serious illnesses whos lives were and have been cut short.
congratulations you are all correct with your reasoning ... no one at the time knew what to do or how it was going to pan out ... it is all HINDSIGHT... we learn from our mistakes, is a saying and we have doubtless learned ... we also learn from the bits we get right! the question is will it be of an advantage next time? EVERYONE PROBABLY KNOWS SOMEONE WHO DIED and it is very sad whether they were healthy or not! A consequence is those that missed out on treatment I know of just 2 but both had Covid and died as a result of the problem unrelated... fighting over patents ! well not so much as a profit thing as a credit thing and a feast for the lawyers [ usually the instigators of some actions!] did they? or are you just being pedantic? A great number of the deaths were unfortunately because the person did not have the ability to fight it, in a lot of cases the underlying illness was resperatory whether being treated or not ................. they may not have had anything wrong with them just not able to produce a fighting chance [ immunity/ or build up anti bodies quick enough! ] I wouldnt stir the poo if it was me unless you know for sure it could have been!
I have it on both sides. My father died in April 2020 due to not getting treatment for his cancer. A blood transfusion could have given him more months. But we need to get away from that fact. Covid killed people and it wasn’t just the ones who had underlying illnesses. It was a killer full stop. Apart from my two friends who like I said had no underlying illnesses, I’ve friends who have long Covid. One now has an hearing loss which started with Covid and is now wearing a hearing aid. Doctors have said it’s long term Covid. I still can’t smell properly since having it last December. We live next to a field and when they mounded up a huge pile of manure it was a blessing as I could not smell anything. We need to get past conspiracy theories as quite possibly none on here are qualified to back up, unless we have doctors or scientist studying Covid. It killed, it prevented treatment it messed up everything.
Not saying it didn't exist as there are many diseases that cause harm, this one IMO was just blown out of total proportion.. It will all come out how much damage Covid caused and not just the virus itself.. I believe and always have that not many people died of Covid but with and most did have underlying illnesses, that will become factual as time goes on. I'm sorry for those that suffered with it, but I also feel sorry for those that suffered because of all the unnecessary & ridiculous measures that were put in place. Again this will all come out in the wash, the millions that have suffered and the damage it's done through health, education and the economy.. It's all been let go now (funny that) but IMO I said from the start, the elderly and vulnerable should have been protected iw which ever way, offered the vaccine when it became available with the rest of society just getting on with it..
skirting through the promotional pics of BOTH ............ Rishi seems to have more teeth glowing from more people you can associate with his heritage ... we will know the result on Monday . providing all the post is delivered!! One has to wonder what would happen if it is tight and Tuesday am post man delivers a sack of mail with 10,000 letters in it and alters the course of the vote........ would we ever know ... original winner is now second! and HER MAJ is about to accept the loser as PM!!!!!!!!
