Oh you know where I eat then, but for a pub chain that’s spent a hell of a lot of money doing it up, to serve up basically a cafe menu points to the fact, they don’t have a chef, and the grub is shipped in pre cooked Al La Wetherspoons and school dinners
No, I’m using the same facts that you used to know where I eat, chain pub grub generally is done to a price, and the only way they can do this, is ship it in from central kitchens pre cooked, that is a fact. I’ve worked as a plumber in quite a few pubs, and the chain pubs virtually buy everything in, frozen ready to defrost and either oven cook or microwave, chips, salads done on site, but that’s about it. Nowt wrong with it, it’s decent grub, you get what you pay for, and the prices in that pub suggests they are buying it in.
Yes it is, very clever of you to remember, I try not to eat in chain pubs because even though the grub is passable, the microwave operator can’t be trusted to put the right time in, and the meal ends up ****e.
"Nowt wrong with it" but you saw fit to call it ****e? Either that's backtracking or you've realised you may have been talking ****e earlier??
Look mate I get that it’s your local, and you may think the grub is ok, me calling it ****e is like comparing a **** kicking Sunday league team with Barcelona, it’s ****e in comparison, me personally i think the grub although edible, is ****e compared to the chef cooked meals at the places I frequent. Is that simple enough for your E numbered tiny brain.
In the local area you have The Wellington at Lund ,The Star at Sancton , Pipe And Glass at South Dalton. And the excellent Goodmanham Arms at Goodmanham so they really will need to be offering something good to compete with the opposition.
The Star also has hotel rooms. The Wolds are an untapped staycation destination, if that is the 2 million punt. I queried the amount first, and then checked the place out. As a village pub, a bonkers decision. The new owners, a small medium pub chain, may be on a winner there with their plans for it to be more than the local watering hole.
You said I was talking ****e, just returning the favour Mr No Name. Keyboard warriors like you hide behind made up names and numbers, I’m easily found. Enjoy your ****e pub grub
Ease up steverico, fish and chips and steak pie in a pub doesn't have to be ****e. I'm thinking Lion & Key for the one and Minerva for the other. No?
Both those pubs have Chefs who prepare and cook the food from scratch, my point was that pub chains, which those two are not, buy their food in frozen, and warm it up, fella me lad won’t accept that, because it’s his local and is getting upset,
I live in Thorngumbald, do you want my address and phone number? Look it up I’m on the Gas Safe register, come round and we can compare pubs, then take the piss.
Can you imagine the court case? Well Your Honour, the dispute stems from an on-line discussion about a pub that's not yet open, and that neither are liable to use when it does.
Don’t worry about that. I’ve been in the Camerton. You’ve really got no argument when it comes to pub food
Whittington and Cat is a regular of mine, cooked fresh every day, very reasonable prices, I think the owner used to have Stags Head Inn, Lelley, another favourite, along with The Camerton, Humber Tavern, The Railway in Patrington, none of which are chain pubs, all employ proper chefs or are family owned, and you can tell. I’m fortunate that within a few miles of my house I have some great places to eat out. Oh and Al Capones in Preston is the finest takeaway in the World, restaurant quality food, so much so that the owner now has two other outlets in Hedon. And It’s no coincidence that the biggest sellers of pub grub are Wetherspoons, spit, Marstons and Greene King all of which have massive freezers and 2kw microwaves.
