Did you see social media last night?

And yes, i know it's not the best cause for gauging reaction (Perrauds injury still makes me laugh) but you'd be stupid if you thought the club didn't monitor and gauge fans opinion through it.

There's a reason they didn't announce certain contract extensions because they were worried about the social media backlash.

No smoke without fire. This certainly isn’t the first we’ve heard of players not backing Ralph. As I said before; The journalists writing this aren’t the desk interns who are trawling twitter for a story, they are pretty reputable.

The athletic writing an article after a fans forum where questions were asked about transfers is not strange timing to me

i haven’t read it and didn’t know it existed

A hatchet job from a paper with no historical close links to the club on the other hand?

And what negative reaction? It wasn’t universally negative from what I can tell. Just like with everything people took what they wanted to from the situation. Kind of like how republicans blamed Biden for rising gas prices and said it was all his fault and are suspiciously silent now they have been declining for ages. Let alone give him credit.

I avoid the Saints Twitter and Facebook pages like the plague.

Show me some actual evidence that there is any truth in the Mail story.

Social media? Are you for real? Twitter is full of complete cretins and Facebook is worse. If I believed everything Twitter told me we would be well into a glorious left wing utopia of a corbyn government powered by the “youth-quake”. Except the opposite happened

Beginning of the end I fear. We don't know the extent yet, for all we know just 1 player has leaked this to the press as he isn't happy, or it could be a wider group.

Either way, it adds even more pressure on Ralph. Huge game this weekend for his Saints future.

Read what I said. And again. And again.

Just so you get what I said.

    And again:

And yes, i know it's not the best cause for gauging reaction (Perrauds injury still makes me laugh) but you'd be stupid if you thought the club didn't monitor and gauge fans opinion through it.

This argument came up on Saintsweb earlier. The response there was that the media can, and often is, a literal smoke machine. Granted more on the politics side but still

If you truly believe there is no smoke without fire go and do some research on man united transfer targets

In this instance, Southampton aren’t Manchester United who are gonna generate loads of traffic with a falsified story. There isn’t a lot to gain from totally fabricating a story about Ralph’s relationship with players.

What are they gauging for? We aren’t going to be making major decisions like whether to keep the manager based on social media reaction. Because if we did he would have been gone multiple times already. After both 9-0s and at several points during the run in last season. And after that first game

This is fair. But there also isn’t much to be gained from writing it either. He is already favourite to be sacked first. So they can’t exactly claim much of a scoop really

I agree. It's a good job it's not their only benchmark when making big decisions, because we'd have been ****ed a long time ago.

I doubt twitter comes into it really, but the club (and not just saints) are aware of what's going on with it and the general fans opinions on it. Like I said, there's a reason why certain contract extensions were never announced...

Kajumba is very well connected to players and their agents - probably just voicing concerns / disgruntlement on behalf of them.

This article might mean **** all in the grand scheme of things, and certainly doesn’t confirm anything. But it’s very interesting to see coming from a decent source (not everyone at Daily Mail is a ****house lol.)

In my last job before I jumped ship and went it alone as a vicious capitalist bastard, I had a boss. Everyone loved him. Everyone who met him found him charming, erudite and generally a good chap. He was hardworking, connected and much loved in our industry, a real credit to the company.

Every single one of the team (of eight) who worked for him absolutely hated him. He was psychopathic (we checked against clinical descriptions, it wasn't just a pejorative). He was selfish, vindictive and utterly self-serving.

It would be useful to consider this when disregarding accounts of Ralph losing the dressing room. It's possible. And, lest there be doubt, I speak as someone who really likes Ralph.

I think those extensions were a unique case which won’t repeat. We basically had to do those extensions because it would have been too expensive to replace those players under the Gao regime if a takeover had fallen through. Had SR signed up earlier those contracts would never have been given out

For the record - I don’t think the DM is completely made up. There are nearly always unhappy players in a squad. But I expect the extent has been implied to be more expansive than it is - both in terms of number of players and importance to the squad. As mentioned earlier - who’d be surprised if McCarthy was unhappy having been bumped to second choice and been blamed for a late equaliser last year. But if he is one then I don’t think the board is going to lose sleep over a number 2 goalkeeper wanting the manager sacked. Or listen to him either

If it is JWP, KWP, Romeu and Stuart Armstrong then that is a bit different.

There are better places to do it than in a badly written daily mail article. But if true I’d have to assume concerns have already been raised and ignored. Indeed that is what the article suggests
