Well it is a wider problem isn't it? That's precisely the problem. We've had pitch invasions all over the place, players getting assaulted on the pitch, lunatics cable tying themselves to the goalposts, fights in the stands. Last season I saw numerous fights break out between Saints fans and I sit in the ****ing Chapel/Itchen corner. Nationwide, fan behaviour has got out of hand and it needs a collective effort from all teams to crack down on it, not just at the grounds that have the biggest problems.

Exactly this, as was pointed out by Toby Steele in the forum. This is an FA/PL driven initiative.

If it's nationwide will away fans be subjected to random id checks and forced to sit down?

Think we all know the answer to that one.

I understand the club has to be seen to be doing something but the draconian id measure is way over the top in my view and not acceptable to drop on fans who've already purchased a season ticket.

Lol no chance, away fans are treated like the guests of honour at St Mary's.

It'll make cup games even worse when we give away the full northam but can't sell tickets for all of itchen north.

That's proven ineffective in tackling anti-social behaviour though. It needs to be a nationwide thing.

Caging fans in proved effective at preventing pitch incursions. Shall we bring them back too?

No it doesn't. Fans of Club A enter the playing area/**** around with pyro then Club A should be sanctioned. Fans of Clubs B-Z don't need to be ****ed about and treated at best like children, at worse like criminals because Club A are twats

Who's doing that? I don't see the big deal TBH. Anti-social behaviour has risen to an unacceptable level so clubs have been told to tackle it.

Well there you are then. At every away game I went to Saints fans set off flares so we deserve to be sanctioned.

Anti social behaviour has risen but it's not solely a football issue, it's societal and football as always reflects that as it's our biggest national pastime among the working class.

As I said I appreciate that the club have to be seen to be doing something but it seems well overkill seeing as I don't recall any big incidents at SMS last season.

The id thing is just draconian and not an acceptable way to treat people in my view. Some people won't have id or won't want to carry it around with them in case of passport.

This should have been made clear at point of sale.

I don't think the ID thing will be enforced that strictly TBH. It wasn't during covid times when capacities were limited and that was more important.

So the question l have is what happens on Saturday when 3,000 Leeds stand and start singing (maybe a song or two with swear words in them)? After the stewards have given them 3 or 4 warnings to sit down (which the Leeds fans will ignore) will the stewards jump into the Leeds crowd and start evicting them from the ground? Or, is it the intention to only target Saints fans?

Don't Leeds bring their own stewards?

They would but the home club are still in charge iirc. Away stewards & police are mainly there for advice and known faces etc

This does not answer my question. Who and how will the no standing policy be enforced and actioned? Its a genuine question, there is no subtext to the question. Simply, l do not understand how 3,000 Leeds will be motivated to comply and then what?

They will only stop standing if the match is stopped and they announce on the PA that fans must sit down before the game resumes.

il your team are away from home and losing heavily, would.this not encourage the away fans to stand? Honestly, l am struggling to understand how this will work. I am not disagreeing with the sentiment, just not sure how you enforce this type of cultural change.

Brilliant then, we just all stand up and eventually our opponents will get tired, we suddenly sit down and play starts enabling us to score.
