Was there much trouble in blocks 1/2 last season? Don't recall hearing about much but then I don't really do home games. The standing thing they have to say but I doubt will be too strictly enforced though it depends how empty the area is. Shame about the STH only thing as it will mean lower crowds and less support. Not a big fan of having to produce id on demand at all tbh. Once again the answer is to treat every day fans like criminals.
On the match and 4-2-2-2 is what I'd like to see here. Bazunu Perraud Salisu Bednarek/ABU KWP Lavia JWP Aribo Stu Mara AA Heart saya 2-1. Head says 1-1 (which would be fine)
This for me - except Adams for Mara at this stage. Although the pairing was seemingly ditched early last season and I didn’t really watch to see if it really was a vain attempt at something that wouldn’t work or something worth trying again
Not been paying 100% attention recently...other than following on match days (fearfully), so don’t know half the squad. Who are all these people? Who’s good, frustrating or useless....and who especially is on the tasty side. Still missing Fonte
I'd have had Adams in (though instead of AA) but think it's a fair assumption that he's off and won't take part. No idea about why the Adams/Armstrong partnership was ditched early. Might just be that it became obvious that Broja was better?
Didnt one of them get injured so Broja came in and never looked back? Can’t really remember Or maybe Broja was impressing off the bench, when Armstrong was hooked because he was ****
If I remember rightly (and I may not be!) it was the West Ham home match where Broja came on for the last 10 minutes or so and looked the most exciting thing about the entire match.
It was. Driving run and hit the post from about 25 yards. Next home game he scored the winner against Leeds and he just kicked on.
I remember, it was my son’s first match (and also the first without my dad). He has a lovely run on goal and hit the post.
As you say the action is being pushed by the Premier League Safety and Security Committee rather than the Club. They have the power to shut the Stadium if the problems persist. These idiots seem to forget that not all of the cameras at the Ground are pointed at the football, they won't get any sympathy from me if they get caught in the act of unsocial behaviour.
The club should get its own affairs in order first, before pointing the blame elsewhere. Openly allowing away fans in the home end and/or hospitality is the root cause of these issues.
It doesn't help, but it's not the only reason why fans act like twats. Maybe if they spent less time drinking in the concourse and in the pub before the game they'd actually behave, rather than getting in fights and yelling abuse at the away fans and players. Blaming it all on away fans sneaking in the home end is a cop out for our own fans anti-social behaviour.
All part of the football experience. I agree with you on the drinks and concourses issue, but imagine actually trying to eradicate home/away fan interaction/banter/abuse (within reason, of course). I sit in Itxhen North on the rare occasion I get to a game, and I've never experienced anything that could be considered law-breaking or needs to be stopped. Honestly, I don't think our club will be happy until we're all politely clapping, with mixed crowds, like the cricket. At least, that's how it's coming across.
Recently the DJ at half time has been playing some apposite tracks, I have been having negative thoughts about what may be dished up on Saturday if we are losing! Time To Say Goodbye - Sarah Brightman. Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchelll. Farewell - Rihanna. Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac. Time to Move on - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Remember when we played Cardiff just after Sala died in that plane crash? A couple of Saints fans were making plane gestures at the Cardiff fans from block 1. That's plain sick and had nothing to do with the away fans. I'm glad Saints have clamped down in that area TBH, even if it has taken a league wide initiative for it to happen. Some of the behaviour I see at games is an absolute disgrace and it needs sorting.
We are one of the most family friendly home crowds in English football imo. These measures feel completely unnecessary to me
Banter is fine. But people (fuelled by too much alcohol mainly) take it way too far. By making it ST holders only in those blocks, you're not only reducing the risks of these people turning up, you're also virtually eradicating the chances of away fans getting into that area. The only way it can happen is if someone passes their ST to one of them, or one buys a ST for the sake of going to one game.
Digusting, wrong and vile... yes However, an isolated incident, in which the perpetrators were caught, fined and banned (from memory) is hardly an indication of a wider problem.
