Who's to say they are lesser players? Many a great player came from lower leagues... Sorry Ashton, but you're intent to drum up excuses for a manager that should be producing a lot better on matchdays..

He was a good player when he arrived, but had previously had injury problems, he was certainly of a top championship standard, not league 2 or 1, which is where we are shopping now

I’m not disagreeing we should be better on match day, I’m also not disagreeing I’m disappointed with NP, what I am saying Is it isn’t helped by the situation we are in. The last time we were in a similar position we were relegated, I guess in a round about way I’m also saying I wish we’d had a more experienced manager when LJ came here, and I believe we could have.

SELLING OUR BEST PLAYERS? ... or to say it as it was.. not being able to turn down a higher than expected price!
The target when LJ arrived was to balance the books into FFP .BUY POTENTIAL YOUNGSTERS... then utilise them teamwise or sell on for profit ...
so aim was .. building a team toward PL getting into the black and utilising academy/ affordable "green horn " youngsters to process through the ranks but supplementing income by "Webster like deals" and in the future having a income from times these players may move on .. Sammie for instance ! ?

NP is floundering ... OVERALL .. OK not started well with 2 losses and both games Hull certainly had there awkward moments ..... but get 2 goals ahead and it is easier.. [ maybe 4 for us as we shed goals in last 10 mins like a snake its skin! ] ... I would say need 4 wins and 2 draws in next 10 .. 9 wins and 3 draws in next 20 .....

Could really do with at least a win and a draw from next two games.

As it was, he did OK..
Switching the situations. If it was now that LJ was in charge with the same circumstances as NP... He would be getting the RR banners from all directions....RP would be on the highest horse you could find.. With full throttle abuse.. Both would be saying "there's nothing wrong with the players, he's out of his depth"
    You know I'm right!! :emoticon-0103-cool:

I think he was out of his depth at the beginning, grew into it, and then ran out of time, all managers do it, except the odd few, Sir Alex, Paisley etc. I also wonder if he’d have fared better if he’d gained a bit more experience before coming here. I think he came here to early in his career.

Part of the reason we are shopping in the lower leagues is because of where NP has put us in the League. Under LJ we were a more attractive prospect for players because of the league position we were regularly in. NP has a difficult job but he has seriously under performed with what he has has at his disposal.

Nothing to do with nothing to spend then?

it’s all to do with cash, none to spend on either fees or wages. If we could afford both we be looking in a different pool.

Where did I say it was nothing to do with cash or limited funds? Regardless of funds what player worth having would drop from a higher placed Championship club to the bottom of the division?

If the wages were higher they would, take Niaismith for example, came from Luton to us, remind me where did they finish compared to us?. On the whole we aren’t even looking at championship standard players as we can’t afford them

So we were in the **** when Ashton and LJ were here and just because a guy with NPs credentials arrived it ain't going to get better a season or two.

The club was hemorrhaging cash on a ridiculous scale.

As he clearly said it will be three years before changes made will bear fruit.

This football club under SL reign has been run amateurish in my opinion and we are where we are on the football field because SL allowed a joker to run the show and then a inexperienced guy in LJ and Holden running the football club.

The blame sit at the top and that is with Mr L.

I take your pint on Naismith but are you suggesting we are paying him more than he was on at Luton? If so, that sort of disproves NP hasn't had the money to spend.

not at all, just Luton pay even less than we do, they did really well with limited resources last season. I was surprised we got him though, especially being I believe he was their player of the year. Although if his performance against Sunderland is anything to go by maybe last season was just a freak,<laugh>

I don't agree; I have said many times, that there are clubs outperforming us in this division last season with lower spending. Their recruitment, management and coaching must be better than ours. Look at Millwall, PNE, Luton, Blackpool etc. That argument holds no weight with me. The other angle against that argument is that we needed an experienced manager who had contacts etc. NP fitted the bill on paper, but as we know football is not played on paper. It's clear NP hasn't had the money that LJ had, but equally, he hasn't generated any; you can't have the argument both ways.

No bugger wants them that's why -only Semenyo and Scott would generate real income.

Just shows what other clubs think of our players.
