The thing with Klopp's after match interviews is that he always goes into great detail. The opening question of say "what did you make of that?" illicits from him a synopsis of the whole game summarised in 3 minutes. He will mention several players from both sides, several decisions and the weather conditions and whatever else is on his mind
It's what he does. He's mentioned the condition of our own pitch on many occasions. Opposition fans and journalists just can't wait to have a dig at him. When his first comment for the result was our players not having the right attitude, you can't say he blamed the pitch for the result. Well ... some can and as we've seen, some will.

It is for journalists but then you get Fulham's official Twitter account posting a picture of their pitch with sprinklers on as if that's supposed to mean something.

I love Klopp's interviews because they are so detailed and so honest. I think other clubs are just jealous that we have him :bandit:

Interesting little fact - Liverpool fielded their oldest XI since 1953 in the Community Shield and had six players aged 30 and over in their starting XI for a Premier League game (v Fulham) for the first time since 1994.

Interesting. I guess as season goes on though you’ll have Konate instead of Matip. Nunez instead of firmino. Elliott instead of one of Hendo/thiago?

I don't see konate coming in very soon. he looked very much off the pace in preseason.

Firmino is already toast. he's #confirmed it for us all v fulham.

    salah is going nowhere

Henderson for elliott is tough. i don't think elliott has done enough yet

    Thaigo is thiago

I think we'll end up with milner and just looking older not younger.

the 20 whatevers need to step up here.

gomez should be demanding a slot if fit.
tsimikas should be pushing robbo on.
keita should at least TRY to stay fit.
Jones should be stepping up as a 21 year old.
Nunez should be shouldering firmino out of the way.

the reality is though...... vvd is getting older, slaah is getting older, henderson is oot already. its a constant cycle of renewal. all these guys need to step up

That's.what happens when you pin aluminium foil to the wall instead of buying a proper mirror. I'm sure you still look twenty.

Trouble is, the ones that aren't classed as "old" (30+) aren't young either. VVD, Alisson, Robbo, Fabinho, etc are all later 20s and quickly closing in on 30

yeah but... well.... it is what it is.

    Alisson 29 - he's got 6 or 7 years left
VVD - 31 - not sure on this one but no direct evidence of drop off yet. as a cb who does use pace he can evolve over time to get another /4 years maybe
robertson - 28 nice thing is tsimikas who aint bad is 26 so we are covered
Matip - gomez and konate behind him.
Fabinho - 28 i don't subscribe to the idea this is a position where there's less running. I'd be worried here as there is no back up. Bajcetic is 17 ffs
    Henderson - 32
    Thiago - 31
    salah - 30

Thats a team in its prime, i guess it'd be something we would call out a chelsea on or whoever in the past.

    The next team:

    Kelleher 23
    trent 23
    Tsimikas 26
    Gomez 25
    Konate 23
Bajetic 17 (this really is an issue)
    Elliott 19
    Jones 21

    Carvalho 19
    Jota 25
    Diaz 25

I think we are doing ok personally but that midfield is exactly what peopel say. kids and old timers. that 23/24 year old dynamic player with lots of experience and drive is missing.

A midfield three of Fab, Ox and Keita would be 28, 28 and 27, with Hendo, Thiago and Milner providing experience and Jones and Elliot providing youth. That would be basically perfect. The fact Ox and Keita haven't worked out is really what has messed the situation up.
