I appreciate that - in fact I remember chatting to Roque Mesa in La Parilla and he was quite sanguine about it (he was out of favour).

However, as I said earlier, with cash in tight supply, Martin sidelining players merely exacerbates the problem<cheers>

In my opinion, Benda is a better keeper than Fisher, playing 4 at the back and potentially using Bennett could tighten the defence, using Whittaker and Joseph’s speed could create more chances for us …..<cheers>

Well I’d like to think Forest will give Cooper time as we know the PL is a big jump up from the Championship. Now what of Martin, I see no improvement from last season, but we have to give him say 10 games so the best part of a quarter of a season for us to see what the season has installed for us. If we’re still playing the endless passing with no end result, then he had to go.

Russell can’t use the, not having a proper pre season excuse that he used last season.

The potential issue for Cooper is the huge amount of money that Forest have spent: if results don’t go their way early doors, the Greek owner could decide that a change is needed to try and protect his investment.

The thing that’s in Martin’s favour is that we probably can’t afford to sack him …. But there again, if we are staring down the abyss of League One, can we afford Not to sack him?

They have spent a lot of money and some salaries of the new players, they have to stay up.

On Martin, we shall have to wait and see, but he needs to start delivering soon or the pressure will be on.

" The potential issue for Cooper, ( or a n other ), is the huge amount of money Forest, ( and all the other Clubs luxuriating in the appalling Premier League ), have spent ".

This is the poisoned chalice for ALL newly promoted Clubs. The requirement to spend vast sums of money, and in a hurry, with no guarantee of a pay back. It's all OK if things go right, but catastrophic if they don't.

Just look at Leeds last season. They avoided the drop at the last minute. Relegation would have set them back goodness knows how many years.
    They were sh...ing themselves.

Be grateful that the owners of Swansea City FC have a modicum of reality and common sense, which most fans' clearly lack. They are not going to throw money around, and I don't blame them.

Being a successful second tier Club is a far better alternative than the possibility of failing to establish a foothold at the top table, with all it's bitter consequences.

The Swans' had their 15 minutes in the sun. It was glorious for a while, until reality took over. Ultimately, they were in the wrong place.

You are probably right re the Club not being able to afford to sack Martin and his crew. This is professional football we are talking about, and it's a real money pit.

Club's need wise heads at the helm, and Swansea seem to have them. Their supporters, however, are seemingly less wise, and want to spend, spend, and then spend some more, of OTHER people's money, of course, never their own. Recklessness before common sense, would appear to be their mantra.

All just my opinion, of course, and I'm sure that mine is a minority view around here. But at least I'm consistent. <cheers>

Martin, and his team, see the players you highlight on a day to day basis, and clearly their view is that they are not up to it.
As outsiders, supporters have to accept their decisions, since they are the experts, which is why they are in post.
All supporters have opinions, and firm favourites, and post accordingly.
However, they are not qualified to pass definitive opinions, for if they were, they would be managing, not just posting. <cheers>

Well, that's the Premier League poisoned chalice for you. After centuries in the wilderness Forest fans now feel entitled, and dread slipping back down the Leagues. Their opinions are just based on fear. I ignore them.

And I am oft to reflect if Father Christmas really does exist.

If they are not in post " come christmas ", I predict that they will have juicy severance payments to make their yuletide pass more comfortably than most.

Then the whole nonsense starts over, with new Managers in post for the new year.

A month of poor results, and the hordes will be baying for their blood, etc.

And so the stupidity goes on, and on, and inexorably ON. <cheers>

Well it all points to finding better scouts who can find rough diamonds again as well as decent experienced bargain players rather than throwing money at big names ?
A future manager with good contacts and players that will follow him here would help?

I feel no optimism that we will suddenly become an improved side, although I think the players we have are able to get better results than we have been getting. It’s the playing style that’s the problem and RM seems to be sticking to his guns. I like possession based football, but other teams seem to realise there has to be an end product to the possession. We’re only doing half of the job it seems - knocking the ball around sedately in our own half whilst 3 goals down with no apparent intention of going for goal. Fix that and we may just become a good side, but it seems the safe pass is the correct pass at the moment ( apart from the kamikaze defence of course)
I agree, if we get to 10 games and are still toothless (possibly even more without Piroe) then I would also be hoping for a change of manager sooner rather than later. RM had all last season and this pre season and to be honest our defence in particular is still as poor as the first game last season with all their mistakes. If 50 plus games isn’t enough to show some progression the he’s the wrong man for the job.

I suspect that their view is based on how RM wants to play - so players like Fisher he believes is more suited to how RM wants to play out of defence, rather than on whether Benda is a better all round stopper <cheers>

Same may go for Whittaker and Joseph - RM wants a patient build-up, whereas these lads are, possibly, more direct and dynamic ….

If you need some help in understanding my post, you only have to ask.

Or perhaps you have always been too shy .
