"Newcastle’s ambitions of a Champions League place had been questioned by many,"

Hands up who has ambitions of Champions league next season - I'll be happy with top ten to be honest. I'd say this is half way house Journalism....they obviously feel dirty by complimenting us so they're trying it in small doses to try and get used to it!

And as I haven't said it anywhere else yet and everyone else has....Stoke truly are a dreadful team!

Its the journos that are truly deluded. they truly want us to have CL aspirations so that they can take the piss. but i don't know a single toon fan that believes we're pushing for CL and most of them aren't even thinking of europe despite our start. their job is just so much easier when newcastle fans are deluded ******s from the north.

Please correct me here, but you mean that the Stoke game of trying to get everything from the wings and the throw ins, whilst Newcastle were somewhat speedy on the break and went through the middle?

You mean that sort of playing Stoke at their own game?

Some of these journalists need to get out from the hospitality suites. If it wasn't for their keeper coming off the line to make two excellent saves in the first half then it would have been 0-4 by the break.

I understand that Pullis brought in the touch lines to stop Newcastle breaking down the wings and to give them a better opportunity to lob things into the box. Well, the Toon countered that with fanstastic breaks through the middle and great defensive resolve. And apart from one Whoops moment when Krul gave them a corner they were snuffed out.

Playing to their tactics, my foot.

    Hands up here.

I believe that the followers over every one of the twenty teams in the Premiership should have ambitions of CL football. Be they follow Wigan or they follow Salford Sussex.

Whether these ambitions are realistic is another matter but the ambition should always be there.

Was impressed with how Pardew had 3-4 men back on the goal line for throw ins, corners etc to block off their players from getting in and around Krul and to give him space to claim the ball.
Stokes throws etc were totaly ineffective last night.

Their pitch is within the range allowed by the PL, but they have to expand it for UEFA games.

Yeah we completely matched their aerial threat but when Delap was throwing the ball at ground level we were really panicking... Luckily they realised this too late !!!

Aye, **** myself when that one flashed across the goal.

As for journalists talking about the fans wanting CL football, they really don't have a clue <doh>.
