Saw this on Sky. Chap ran on and struck a player so hard that he has a fractured cheek and damaged hearing. Two players were sent off after giving the man a kicking, but could you blame them? I'd certainly wade in if someone struck a mate of mine like that and I'm a 61-yr-old woman. Then the goalkeeper was hit with a flare. There would be riots in the Commons if this happened in England.
Why the hell would you send off the players, is the ref trying to say "Regardless of what happens you NEVER stand up for your team mates and you MUST stand still and let the fan beat the living crap out of anyone he wants" Absolute joke!!!
Blink and you missed it! Yes, we drew at home and lost away. Rotten luck to get one of the toughest draws in our first foray into Europe for some time.
I just don't understand why, I have never seen in my FA Rule book that you cannot kick a "spectator" if they interfere with a match so in all fairness it's not breaking a football ruling so a red card doesn't HAVE to be given, it's down to referee discretion and if he punched a player then I'm all up for other players to punch or kick him back, obviously did him no harm as he got up and walked away after it
FIFA have some silly rules.. streakers deserve a good kicking now and then, don't see why players get punished for outside interruption of a game. It's violent conduct it doesnt matter if its a fan, a player or anyone else, if you kick someone like that it's violent conduct and hence a red card
Understand your reason but given that then so is swearing at the officials and other players (also classed as foul and abusive language) but you rarely see players get sent off for this
As a referee myself I always get angry when refs dont send off professionals for swearing at them - encourages the kids on a Sunday to swear at me and consequently send them off which leads to them asking about why professionals dont get sent off

Kind of puts the streaker situation at Havant & Waterlooville into perspective that happened last season! The player only wrestled the streaker to the ground though.....and still got sent off! The H&W chairman wanted to take a player off to even the numbers up but couldnt without bringing the game into disrepute!
