Being Frank is an admirable trait in the right time and place. Too much too soon in this case I'm afraid. Once again, I do agree with him but that's not the point. Management is more than putting out a teamsheet. Young players will **** up regularly but if you picked a back line with Salisu, Bednarek Valery and Stephens for ****s sake then you can only expect what we got the last 150 times. How is it possible to be surprised with how we defend crosses with a back line that we have fielded for 3 years?? Own it Ralph.
How many minutes during pre season did he play with the back 5 that started yesterday? how many times did he play a 3 man midfield of Romeu Lavia & jwp? I don’t remember those same players playing together for very long. Seems absolutely ridiculous to me. Harsh to blame the players in his post match interview
I think, looking at the changes over time, there's been a swing from +90% to +70%, use this poll to reflect
The fans forum this week will be very interesting. Could be some awkward questions for Ralph and Semmens to try to answer
I still think the majority who voted have not re-assessed. I don’t believe there’s 70% support currently.
There certainly is a loud out shout. I'm in the review after 8-10 games camp so it's not a simple in or out vote, there isn't an undecided option.
Yep. I have a ticket to go. Main question thinking of asking is why did we suddenly abandon our high pressing approach. We had an identity and a cause. Ok the press could be picked apart at times but it gave us a chance of winning as well as losing. Now we have lost that identity and seem to try to grind out the perfect defensive performance and win 1-0 which has happened once in 14 (and that was very lucky). Why has Ralph abandoned his principles and why won’t he return to them based on the complete failure of the last 6 months?
First of all, there is no need for a new poll. People can change their votes if they want to. The logic that a new poll will show how people feel now doesn’t stand up, as if they can vote in a new poll, they can change (or not) in this one. Personally, I am on the verge of changing mine after yesterday, which showed little or no improvement from the second half of the season. If things don’t change in the next few matches I will be changing to Out.
The World Cup break gives a mini pre-season to any potential new manager, which I’m guessing SR had in mind as the reason why sacking Ralph in summer wasn’t the first option.
They can change their vote, but they don’t. That relies on someone who isn’t an active member coming on here and deciding to change it. There are 110 in votes, I don’t see 110 people posting on here regularly. I think it’s about 50/50 in the fan base atm.
this will be an interesting response. Ive seen quotes saying it was too demanding and players couldnt handle it. we have now brought in the 2 IC who apparently has good defensive experience and no doubt the team as a whole has been working on the 3 5 2. i can get behind that but better accept it if it doesnt work.
im not changing my vote yet, i support the change to a 3 5 2, cant after all say there is no plan B, whether its a good one or not needs debate but I will call out what I think are problems and there were a lot of those yesterday. it feels like there was bugger all pre season, Ralph is really up against it.
Have you considered that people are waiting, like me, to see how the first few games go before changing their votes?
This for me. I’m teetering, and certainly wouldn’t be gutted if he were to go now (depending on who was brought in), but I’m not going to change my vote one game into the season.
Voters may not be posters and as I said earlier and Chilcs pointed out there's a good few waiting to see how the next games go. No new poll required adding an undecided or on the fence option would be interesting.
On paper the WC does indeed look like at excellent time for certain clubs to make a managerial change. For example, the likes of Everton or Wolves or Leeds making a change after 16 games I think might fit quite well, depending on how their games go. But I don't think it feels too right for us - it's both too long and too short. 16 games is too long, because if we perform poorly for pretty much that entire period then it's not really a 16 game run of poor form. It's a circa 30 game of poor form. That's way too many games to have not yet made a change. 16 games is too short, because it doesn't really provide sufficient time to go on a purple patch (which, to be fair, we often do under Ralph) and hence put last season behind us, only to then go another sustained - and this time fatal, for Ralph - poor run of form. Basically, we either stop the rot or we don't. If we do, I imagine Ralph will still be here post the WC. If we don't, he should really be gone before the WC.
This is where I am too. Does kinda feel like we should have gone for the full fresh start, but we didn’t, so will give Ralph more than an away game against many peoples pick to finish 3rd this season before changing my vote. That said, at this stage it does feel quite unlikely he’ll turn it around and he’s still making a lot of frustrating decisions. But even so, I’m not changing my vote based on one game. This is where In v out doesn’t show the whole picture.
I agree - I was more thinking along the lines that even if Ralph’s successor comes in well before it, the WC break gives them a buffer previously unavailable in a season.
