Yeah he’s a Rolls Royce but we need to protect him properly or else like you say all the balance is gone. Too many players aren’t on his wavelength and bring him down to their level rather than him lifting them to his

But we don’t have wing backs and they are the most important position in that formation so what’s the point in using it when you don’t have the personnel? It’s madness.

I think the midfield 3 would work quite well with Slater playing behind instead of as a doubled up half left wing back.

Are we really talking about dropping Seri after game two, when he was one of the top performing individuals in the entire league in game one?

Slater literally switched over to the right side in the first half to give Coyle some cover from Brady

No, we are talking about how we need to protect him to get the most out of him

It's just trying to get the balance right, I think it's a fair discussion. He needs a proper defensive midfielder alongside him but Tufan isn't really a 10 so what happens with him?

I do think Sinik was brought in to play there mind.

We don't really have good enough full backs either but we can't just play without those.

Our full backs are full backs, not wing backs. And playing a striker at left wing back? We might as well just **** the wing backs off altogether and stick 10 men down the middle?

It’s early days with a lot of changes, defensively seem good, creativity/ midfield/ forward line seems we need a lot of improvement. Good away point though

I don’t think we were particularly good defensively today, we were entirely at the mercy of Preston’s poor finishing, we gave away a lot of chances and conceded dangerous positions. We were fortunate not to concede 5 or 6 and on another day easily could have been.

We could always play with a proper DM as you say, and then Seri and Ozan further forward. We don't have to play with a no.10 if the two 8's have license to get forward more to influence the game further up the pitch. Just as Liverpool or Man City's midfield operate, they have a Fabinho or Rodri to defend and break up play allowing more creative players to, well create :)

With who we have available I can't see why Jones couldn't play this role until we bring someone in.

We had more issues defensively with Elder at LWB though than Allahyar so I don't really get your point.

I think the clear point is that realistically Elder & Coyle just aren't good enough for where we want to be in this division.

They'll be a new RWB in the club in the next few weeks and Longman and Sinik back from injury gives us decent options at LWB. I actually really like Longman at LWB, not so much as a RWB mind.

That may work in midfield. I think we played like that a bit in the 2nd half against Bristol City.

I wouldn't be moving Alfie though as McLoughlin is too slow to play anywhere other than the middle CB and it's the position that Figs is doing very well in. I'd like another CB too

I've been banging the drum long enough for Alfie Jones to be put in as DM, for me his most impressive performances have come in that position.

Personally I'd like to see us give it a go as a back 4, playing 4132 with Alfie as the one and Allayhar up top alongside one of Tetteh or Oscar.

He’s our technical security in centre back though. Figureido cant play on the side of a back 3 as he’s not good enough on the ball

Didn’t see the game and I know Ingram was probably motm, commentary said we was equal to them first half but second they were the better but lacked creativity and poor finishing. If what you are saying is right then it’s a concern that we were fortunate that they were poor especially that we didn’t have much going forward. Still early days, much improvement needed, another midfielder and forward needed. A good away point still but against better sides we probably wouldn’t have got it.

Ingram did his job? If he lets some of those in we are saying he’s played terrible… Defence wasn’t cut open, the midfield lost the ball in bad areas leaving them exposed.
