Never heard anyone say that tbh. Most of us think a fit broadhead would comfortably make it here. Don’t think I’ve seen a soul who says otherwise. It’s the fit part of the sentence most of us question
I dont see why we shouldnt target it mate. I have said before the championship will be wide open this year. I cant see any teams with a Mitrovic. Some teams might get on a good run, but I couldnt predict which ones. It looks already like the pre season favourites are starting with a weight to get rid of. I reckon we have the players to really dominate this league, but it might take 10 or so games for them to learn the league. In Alex Neil we have a manager better than most and I really do think we have a couple of big signings still to come. Might as well aim high in my opinion amd see how far we can go.
I like your thinking and positivity mate. The Sunderland way would be to dash our hopes next game but even if we do lose the next one, we do look like a solid squad that shrugs it off and bounces back. Here's hoping. One thing is for sure. We're in a better place than the last 5 seasons, and thats a massive relief.
the back to back promotions are being openly talked about i see, lol. as i said end of last season, we have a squad of players that like playing, they play for each other and just enjoy being on the pitch together...a good squad spirit can take a club a long way but we also have skill in there so why not aim high? realistically, mid table would still be a big step up from where we have been and a solid base to start next season from but i agree with what has previously been said and that is if we do manage to go up again i hope the fans realise we will not be splashing the millions needed to establish the club, we might put up a good fight for the first season but best we can do is just enjoy the ride, maybe come down with 100M+ in the bank and build for the next one.
looking at the rest of the league and no one really stands out as 'sure fire promotion contenders' in my eyes (but what do i know eh?) and in the main it is fairly similar to league one as in any team is capable of beating any other and i feel any kind of run will have a team shooting up or down. i am looking at mid table as our 'first aim' and i feel it is quite do-able.
A few fans of championship clubs have said (on podcasts)that teams are all capable beating each other on any given day at this level. They seemed to think it was a bit of a level playing field bar 1 or 2 teams with the parachute money.
Fulham are the recent defining yo yo club, hanging onto their good players, as the parachute payments enabled them to do so We just kept falling
Free hit against the relegated clubs home and away imo. That's 6 games. The rest, game on. We will win some that we shouldn't and lose some we shouldn't but that's football. HTL, really encouraged by the first 2 games.
agreed mate, coventry, while we were all a bit wary considering how well they did last season showed we can not only hold our own against one of the expected better teams but take the game to them, first half at least...second half i thought we tried more to control and hold than go all out for a winner but they did get better and had the second half. bristol city showed today they are a very good passing team but we got to grips with that and i honestly feel we all but eradicated that side of their game, it was no walk in the park mind but we did shade it and deserved the win...so only two games in but two reasonable indicators of the type of opposition we will face.
