Just saw the replay of the penalty incident, the ref is indicating Ince was moving away from the goal.
Morison needs to do some talking in the dressing room.

I hate to say it, but totally underwhelmed with the Bluebirds performance.

Could and should have been different if City played like they started.
3 great balls in to the box 2nd half but no body there to touch them in.
Undone by a defensive howler & a sucker strike.
The style of football by City against a bang average team disappointing.
Lot of work to be done.

Well there we are. A result to remind us that we are a work in progress and not the finished article.
I appreciate that there's more to a game than just statistics, but my tiny concern at this stage is that while we bemoan the lack of a striker, it doesn't look as though we're creating many chances at the moment.
Very early days of course and a game played in ridiculous heat. Plenty of time for things to be sorted.

As I said above we had 3 great balls into the box at 1-1 but nobody could nod one in.
But at 1-2 we were aimless and lost our shape.
    Learning curve at present

What a difference a weekend result makes on here - like chalk and cheese from last week.

Football supporter syndrome - we all suffer from it and it shows up on the forum.

Not seen any highlights yet and circumstance meant I didnt follow radio or text coverage from just before the penalty.
I said in the week that yesterday would be a better barometer for where we're at. There will be plenty ups and downs in the season with inconsistencies.
What we need to ensure is that the trend is upward through the season.
Yesterday was a bit of a reality check which is fine. Easy to get carried away after beating Nowich and an away goal within 5 minutes.
Will be interesting to see how the starting line up evolves in the next few weeks as things bed in.

My glass us still half full.

Not sure that can be said for Swans and Brizzle fans after taking a peek at their boards.

Edit: oh, and I think our manager is a bit more honest in his assessment of his team and his own performance than others have been. That means he will learn and change things.

Fair play Reading were the better team 2nd half.

Whilst very little can compensate for our loss yesterday, there is a weekend bonus - Man U lost at home.

Brizzlebluebird and Mrs Brizzle's musings from the Pick & Shovel

So, after a little jaunt to Henley on Thames for a night away, the missus and I returned home to digest the weekends sporting events.

    The Positives

    • A good quick start by the seems of things and an early goal for another of the newbies brought in to add a more dynamic and attack minded style of play (not to mention a correct scorer for me in the prediction league :emoticon-0105-wink:).
    • A first run out for Philogene & Etete
    • The managers honesty in his assessment at the end.
    • We're not Man United! (Or Swansea).

    The Negatives

    • Nelson... We can't comment too much as no highlights have been seen yet and we weren't at the game, but being as he was brought in as a replacement for Ng and he gives away a penalty that ultimately galvanised the opposition and gave them a way back into the game, you have to think Ng will be walking straight back into the 11.
    • Denting the feel good factor. After coming away from the CCS bouncing at how well everything seemed to be knitting together, yesterday was a very timely reminder that we have a long way to go. The possession stats were still good but if we don't do enough with it then we are in danger of being like our little cousins down the road... Pretty football can also be pointless if it doesn't yield results. There's a fine balance to strike.
    Mrs Brizzle Says
As much as she loved her night away, she can't help but be disappointed that both the mighty Bluebirds fell to defeat along with her beloved Wurzles (in front of a sellout crowd no less).

To continue a nautical theme after taking a trip up and down the Thames, she thinks the lifeboats may already need launching at Ashton Gate and has suggested we may want to get a distress flare ready at the CCS too.....

Personally I think she's going a bit overboard and Captain Morison will steer us right and keep us on an even keel during the season.

This is a disappointing set back but we all knew the waters would get choppy occasionally on this journey. We just need to stick with it, hoist the main sail again next time out and set course for three more points.

Now, pass the port Mrs Brizzle... The sun is over the yardarm. <cheers>
