Amazed that Stoke have this reputation of a "good " team ; " top 10 side".

Was I alone thinking the blocking of Krul ALL game on set pieces was outrageous?
Did Stoke have any flair on the flanks?
Have Stoke got a plan B other than those throws?
Does any other EPL have full time towel carriers for throw ins?

    Jeez they were bad.:steam:

If you watch them throw ins 90% are in fact illegal throw ins.

The rules of the throw-in are clearly stated by FIFA.

The ball has to be held above or behind the head of the thrower. He mustn’t cross the line, although he can be on it, and he must use both hands.

On this point his momentum carries him well over the line before the ball has left his hands.... meaning its a foul throw. Also in most cases the ball is not in above of his head its actually in front.

They are a horrible team to watch. It was interesting how irrate their fans where getting when we used THEIR towel to take throw ins.... and wasted some time doing so when this is what they do on every throw in.

Also the fouls on Raylor who practically got his head kicked in and huth on Krul both where very horrible fouls..... Nothing given for them in terms of cards.

I am however pleased the ref had the balls to give our penalty when it was almost the same as theirs.

Was amazed how the ref allowed so many of the throw in's not to be taken in the correct place, as much as ten yards where stolen every time :steam:

the only set piece taken from the correct position was a corner :emoticon-0102-bigsm

the daft thing is, Stoke are a far better side without Delap.

Sure, his throw ins are immense, but he only has 2 variations. He's also useless in midfield.

When he doesn't play and they get Pennant and Etherington more involved, they can play some quick, direct, powerful football.

Last night they were an embarrassment, in my humble opinion.

hands up if you think every team to go to the brittania for the rest of the season will be drying the ball every single time it goes out of play. also delap run up for the throw in was bent like a banana to steal even more yards forwards.

This!! I was screaming at the ref everytime as he gained an easy 5 yards,, it was so obvious! Though I am so glad it was us who decided to finally give stoke a taste of their own medicine. You could see pulls getting red faced everytime we used his special beach towel and I think it was generally fun to watch for all PL fans.

  8. Did anyone else notice how Delap moved about 5-10 yards up the pitch from where it went out?

Yes, every single time and the ref didn't pick up on it once! I just read that apparently Pulis was actually complaining that we were using the towel before throw ins??

That man is such a helmet.

Stoke are such a terrible team, they had a 20 second spell the whole game where they tried to play football and we cut it out so they went back to dirty cheating tactics...

    stoke tactics

midfielder gets the ball as this is foreign to him he immediately turns passes the ball back to the CBs (continues smoking/bbming/chasing flies)then watches the ball fly over his head as the CB launches it into orbit

The midfield passes the ball sideways from one side of the pitch to the other on the half way line until Pennant and Etherington have pushed up far enough.

Once they have they launch it diagonally to the edge of the 18 yard box (on the opposite side) where:

    a) they head it upwards back towards goal
    b) the ball is defended and they get a corner or throw
    c) the scraps fall to Etherington / Pennant to cross the ball in.

It's so one dimensional it is comedy. However, no matter how many times they did it yesterday, there was always going to be one or two that caused trouble.

Delap's low, flat throw in is brilliant. He's like a fast bowler throwing in a yorker.

I'm amazed it is so effective, but it is, so fair play to them.

I say 'fair play', but obviously such a concept is lost on Robert Huth. That 2nd challenge on Raylor was awful.

Its gonna really cut him when every team starts using the towel now. i reckon he'll eventually do away with it and delap if everyone really starts taking the piss. he doesn't have a leg to stand on though if hes hypicritical enough to complain about it.

It was a brilliant way of ruffling the fans, players and pulis. its so simple but now they see how infuriating it is for everyone else. i love how their fans never said a peep until they scored a scabby pen then started mouthing off. they sharp bottoned it when demba banged in no. 3.

We showed teams how to stop Stoke. Crowd the wingers and play on the counter with quick and good technical players. Their defence is slow and probaly a bit injury prone.

That's what I don't get about them bringing the touchlines in for?

Pullis would rather rely on playing that stats like Fat Sham e.g. long throws into the box rather than keeping the pitch the standard UEFA size and allow there wingers to play football.
Bringing on Jones and taking off Etherington killed the game for them, as Etherington was there most attacking player of the night and easily the biggest threat.

    Try playing football not percentages.
