Martin Tyler has revealed his true colours buly calling Hillsborough a hooligan related event on the BBC.

He has quickly apologised but imo this is too much.

I dont ever want to hear his biased scum voice on our matches ever again.

It's bad enough that we can hear his delight whenever something happens to.our players or we concede a goal but to know he has now shown himself to be truly despicable and that he will be allowed continue on it too much.

    Fire him now.

The continued lies and denial of the truth by these idiots makes me furious. It goes beyond the realm of tribalism and steps into evil.

If football got me to the point where I could no longer determine what was real and what wasn't, I'd have to bin it off.

The BBC went to the dogs a while ago. This is just further proof.

    Thanks for the link Sucky.

may be slaughtered for this, but feel been massive overreaction to this.

was talking generally and stated that the game has changed since the prem where before you had things like hilsborough and hooliganism.

Was obviously meant as two separate thing, 1 being overcrowded stadium etc, the other being hooliganism. However, unfortunately when speaking, it’s easy to not leave a big enough gap and what when written would be a comma to separate the issues. He never actually stated that hillsborough was caused by hooligans…

It’s not like he said, hooligan related issues such as Hillsborough…

Given what’s happened and come out over the last few years I don’t think anyone that’s sound of mind would sit there and think it was caused by bad behaviour from the fans, so clearly it’s just been worded a bit ambiguously rather than him actually believing, or flat out saying, that’s what caused it.

He said the game was "in a bit of a crisis at that time", adding: "We weren't that long after Hillsborough and other hooligan-related issues as well, so it was a very much a difficult time for the game generally."

    thats the actual quote
I think that someone who is in public spotlight should definitely not put those sentences together. In this instance i think he has made a slip on how he actually feels and is using semantics to separate the two.

This aside i think Tyler should have be fired long ago for how many one sided comments he made, he was bound to slip at some point
I could be judging him harshly but i think the sentence is just about able to be taken in either direction, which in itself is possibly the issue.

It's the "other" that he cannot explain away witha comma.

If he said we had a terrible tragedy and then said football also had then it would still conflate the two.

He's shown his true colours. That's why I described it as such

He's now scambling to cover his arse but he conflated two issues that were unrelated and it took 30 ****ing years to get that stated by any court.

Hooliganism existed in football and still exists. The premier league had little to nothing to do with changing that.

I'm sorry but there's only one way to take what he said. There's absolutely no way that "Hillsborough and other hooligan related issues" can be explained away. He's a sports commentator well versed in how to speak publicly not someone taken unawares and stumbling over what he meant. The word 'other' does not need to be there.

It doesn’t, and it’s that word that has made it look bad.

I still think was a slip of the tongue rather than him believing it.

Im sure if someone wrote down verbatim generally conversations everyone had day to day, then some of that would come across different to how you mean it

It can be explained ("... Hillsborough and other, hooligan-related issues as well...") but it's at best ambiguous and clumsy, and as @Bumps says, the connection of the two strongly implies an underlying thought process.

You would think, eh? That's hardly the case though.

Just to say this is the same guy I commented on him laughing at one of our players injured until he finally realised it wasn't faking and he immediately switched to the "quiet reserved" tome of a serious commentator like as if he wasn't laughing at how soft our player was for getting a wicked in the head.

I am very sure he's a biased **** and frankly he's let the curtain slip on the complete prick he really is.

Sky won't fire him but he would have it in no uncertain terms we won't be having him at anfield and I'd hope the club also tell sky no interviews post or pre match if he is on the game no matter that fines we get.

I'm going to leave it now because it has a very deep seated emotional effect on me and dwelling on it doesn't help.

I can see both viewpoints however with Mr Tyler
I think there have been too many occasions
He can be professional but ultimately he is a human with his own opinion - (one which he is entitled too) however when there are still idiots who believe what they believe today someone in a public position should not be allowed to make that kind of ‘mistake’ imho
