Good Morning. It's Thursday 4th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Klich wants to quit ER

Mateusz Klich's future at Leeds is in doubt, after Polish media outlet 'Meczyki' revealed that the veteran midfielder wants to quit Elland Road, in search of first team football. Klich has had limited opportunities to impress Jesse Marsh, and with the arrival of Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Tyler Adams, it is feared he has fallen further down the pecking order.

Klich has only been in Jesse Marsch's starting line up once, since taking over from Marcelo Bielsa at the end of February, and with the World Cup just three months away, is desperate to impress. Further media reports are suggesting that Dutch outfit FC Utrecht are pushing for a loan move, which, if they are willing to pay his salary, may be the best option for all parties.

Leeds have certainly got their money's worth out of Klich. He joined in the Summer of 2017 from FC Twenty for £1.5m. He's made 163 appearances, scoring 21 times. He is the third-longest current player at Elland Road, behind Liam Cooper (2017), and Stuart Dallas (2015).

During his recent post match press conference (v Cagliari), Marsch was quizzed on Klich's future. His reply certainly wouldn't have installed much confidence in the 32yo:-

"I don't know yet," "Listen, I really like Mateusz and his mentality has been great. He understandably really wants to go to the World Cup, which, you know, all of our guys are trying to figure out how it all fits and it's an important four or five months for a lot of players. "But I like having Mateusz here. He's a great guy, and he's put a lot into this. So we'll see what happens."

Marsch 2nd favourite for the chop

With 48 hours to go until the Premier League kicks off, the daggers are already out, and aimed firmly in the back of Jesse Marsch. Leading Bookmakers, SkyBet are offering odds of just 5/1 that the American will be the first Managerial casualty of the season, just behind Everton boss Frank Lampard.

Whilst the Whites have splashed out just under £100m so far this Summer, their two most influential players have left Elland Road in search of Champions League football. It is feared their departure could have catastrophic consequences for the squad, and should Leeds season start poorly, the pressure could prove too much for the American!

    The Sack Race odds

    Frank Lampard 7/2
    Jesse Marsch 5/1
    Brendan Rodgers 7/1
    Ralph Hasenhüttl 7/1
    Scott Parker 8/1
    Marco Silva 9/1
    Bruno Lage 12/1
    Thomas Tuchel 12/1
    Antonio Conte 18/1
    Eddie Howe 18/1

New keeper takes priority after injury to Klaesson

Elland Road journalist Beren Cross has intimated that the next player arriving at Elland Road will be a goal-keeper, which is expected to be finalised next week. The move comes after it was revealed that Kristoffer Klaesson sustained an injury at the weekend which will keep him sidelined for a sustained period. It has been suggested that Leeds may try and sign veteran shot stopper Ben Foster. The 39yo was recently released by Watford, following their relegation from the top flight.

Cross's news will come as a blow to many Leeds fans, who were hoping that a striker, and a left-back may be joining before the weekend. In truth, it seems that whilst Leeds may be linked to a host of targets, none are at an advanced stage of negotiations. According to Cross:-

"Illan Meslier remains the undisputed number one at Elland Road, while Kristoffer Klaesson impressed in his one appearance at Molineux last term, but he picked up an issue behind closed doors on Saturday. That problem has escalated the move for a second-choice stopper and one could arrive at Leeds next week. It remains to be seen what Leeds do in attack and at left-back. Deadline day is four weeks away and with so many moving parts in the transfer window, a lot can still change."

"The money is there for a forward to be signed before the window closes, but as was the case with De Ketelaere, any target would need to tick a lot of boxes and Leeds are prepared to wait. No left-back has been credibly linked with the Whites thus far and it remains to be seen what progress the club have made in that department."

Good morning all from a warm and sunny Dublin. I like Klich, he came back from a loan spell and worked hard when he made the first team. He's 32 now and he should go to play first team football because he'll never get another chance to play in a World cup. Good luck to him if he does leave.<ok>

    Morning all

At 32 it's time for Klich to go if he wants to get a place in Poland's WC squad.

Great another injury so that's what 8 out for the game this weekend. We seriously need to add some bulk to the squad or we're gonna screwed again this season.

Always thought Klich would go this summer, but hey he will always be a legend for me as he was undroppable for over a 100 consecutive games leading up to and including promotion.

As far ad the sack race is concerned I wasnt taken with the way we played at the end of the season and we seemed to revert to trying to play Bielsa style in parts. JM is an unknown in the prem so we have to take Orta at his word and accept he knows what hes doing. The club have more than backed him so it only remains to be seen how it all pans out. Im optimistic and think he stands a hell of a chance of being a success

Lets face it Klich knows, we know his time is up here. Last season he couldn't last a 90 min Prem match he just didn't have the legs and that was with a super fit Bielsa training schedule. He's been great since he came back from his loan spell and a typical example of possibly letting a player go before being properly looked at. He was out the door and look what he did when he got his chance.
Whatever he decides, he goes with my blessing. he wants a last World cup, and you can't do that by not playing football. I'd love for him to stay around and play if/when needed but that's me being selfish for the sake of my club.
A keeper will come along with a striker and LB we just have to be patient.
The sack race well it could be anyone couldn't it anyone who starts bad in the first 10 games will be a bookies fav.

I think we reverted to Bielsa's style at times, as that's all the majority of the team knew for 3/4 years, at least Marsch was flexible enough to recognise this. Now he has added players he feels and in some cases knows that can play his way and will have been training the rest in it, so expect less if any of the Bielsa way now. Do I like the system, no, Rangnick plays it and it's awful and let's be honest, he has more experience playing it and had better players executing it, the only saving grace on that is, perhaps the scum players didn't buy into it but ours will, lot less ego's in our squad. Soton play it too, not been a great success there either. So all in all, I think Marsch has earned his chance but don't expect it to succeed as in top half finish but if we can get around 14th place, after last season that would possibly considered some kind of success I suppose and I'd be fairly happy with it, especially if we don't get some of the drubbing we got last season.

Linked to 30 and 40m strikers all over the place and next signing is a goalkeeper old enough to be on this forum. Typical <laugh>

    Morning all

We need depth in midfield, we add some new players and then those who we are hoping will provide that depth ask to leave, a shame but I don't see Klich as a starter and I would have liked to keep him but if he asks to go we have to let him.

We have needed another Keeper for a long time now, why do we wait until the only back-up we have gets injured. All very frustrating, it can't be hard finding a back up can it?

On that sack list, I like Brendan Rogers.

Priceless mate, they're not available! You could pay a tenner to go on the waiting list and still likely not know in 5 years time. The irony is, relegation would be the one thing that changes that <whistle>

I am on the waiting list Narcos and I appreciate that I can't buy one now. I ask because our mates who have them are giving us their tickets for the Everton game and they don't want paying for them. They usually work out cheaper than matchday prices. <ok>

Graham Smyth reckons Max Dean going out on loan, which means the 21s will lean heavily on goals from Mateo Joseph Fernandez and Sonny Perkins, plus the fact if the likes of Joffy and Greenwood not getting much game time they can also play for the 21s so could see Struijk, Cooper, Forshaw all getting the odd game in
