Shirt was too big for Lingard. Would only have been a stop gap signing until they got Mbappe next summer anyway...........etc
1/3 to finish top half 9/4 to finish bottom half …doesn’t take a genius to work out where the real value is there.
Believe it’s £160k if he hits all of his targets. Think £80k is the basic wage. Still not a bad basic wage mind £4m a year!!
Newcastle are getting outdone in the transfer market by the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa. With their current squad it's difficult to see them pushing the top half teams. They've not been able to get any of their top targets, they've all signed for other teams. Richest owners in world football. That's what really counts.
I keep hearing this and it makes me wonder if they really do think the Saudis are going to spend £300bn on the football club. I'm sure it's largely tongue in cheek, but even one of my sensible mag cousins talks about "when we are like Man City" and genuinely seems to believe it
Our Friends to the North, don't seem to comprehend that being 'The Richest Club ib the World', doesn't change the basics, at least not with immediate effect. There are the FFP rules. This stops The Club from just splashing the cash. They will need to show a build up on the Balance sheet and for that they need the extra income that comes from European compitition. Chicken and Egg syndrome there! The North East has never been an attractive destination for top players, when compared to London or Cheshire. And, at present the London/ Manchester/ Liverpool clubs can at the very lest match N/C wages. N/C history is indeed a rich one, BUT its almost 70 years since they won an open competition, (multiple Promotions hardly count). So any player looking to add to his Silverware collection is going to look elsewhere. Then there is the real killer, the WAGS. Not the same Social Standing with the address and having to fly down to London to shop at Harrods is no doubt a bore. No doubt ALL of these snags will be overcome in time. But patience will be required, and, to date, this has not been something that the average N/C Fan has shown very often.
"Then there is the real killer, the WAGS." You're quite right mate, that's the killer. I love the NE but it's pointless trying to build a case for the WAGS built on a lovely coastline, nice countryside, the Metro Centre and a stag night culture .... .... when people say 'there's a Michelin starred restaurant only a mile from Newcastle city centre' they totally miss the point. I could happily spend a weekend in Newcastle, even a week, but then you've done the lot. I have friends and family in the Newcastle area so that would pass some time, the WAGS don't. When we were at Wembley we stayed two miles from Wembley and ended up, after the match, in a Portuguese bar with Portuguese beer, food and music. In London there's probably a bar for Eskimos so any WAG can feel at home. I've no idea of the answer but the question is 'how many of the foreign players have ever played in the NE and stayed in the NE? Julio Arca and ....
Blackburn have signed Tyler Morton on a loan from Liverpool. That's a cracking signing. He looked comfortable in Liverpools first team.
It's all lazy assumptions and lack of knowledge. Being "worth" £500bn, as is often quoted by what passes for journalists these days, is so comical it's amazing . To spell it out for the hard of understanding; the PIF has assets, including government bonds, factories, ships, stocks, media concerns and a huge plethora of other interests. They have them to make money, and spread the risk of downturns over all sectors of the economy. Many countries do this. Uncle Saud is not going to sell all of these assets, or indeed any of them, to finance a football club. The Saudis have bought a club as an attempt to show that they are normal people, with civilised mores, and not medieval, intolerant barbarians. The club is included in the PIF as a tidying up exercise. The Saudis know that, far from naking money from it, it will cost them a lot of the stuff, and they will be prepared to spend enough to try and gather a sheen. It's an expensive make up job. By the way, the oft quoted " biggest PIF in the world " description is yet more journalistic ignorance. That would be the PIF of Norway, which is worth about £3 trillion. Somehow they don't shout about it!
Won't be many mind! I think Mendieta might still be here, but both him and Arca got hitched to local women.
Just come back from a cruise (look at me, though it was cheaper than a week in tenerife). Why is it every mag feels the need to wear a home shirt on holiday ? They really are a weird bunch, looking for acceptance everywhere they go. There must have been 5 or 6 and at one point there was at least 3 or 4 of them wandering around with the shirt on
They really are a weird ****ing bunch. I haven't bought replica kits since I was in my early 20s, but I have a retro 1973 shirt I wear to games. These ****ers wear their shirts everywhere - in the supermarket, on holiday, in teh airport, at the cricket, at the Sunderland games......it's almost cult-like
