Alpine have played hard with Alonso and Piastri and had their bluff called. The only works team outside of the big 3 and snubbed by a former WDC who is an icon and snubbed by their young in house talent. What on Earth must be going on there?
The comments on the BBC are worth a read . For example I wonder if the Ferrari strategists are also working for the Alpine press release team
LOL Until this I held out some vague hope that Alpine would, given the budget cap, somehow navigate their way to the front and make it a big four “factory” teams. This debacle makes me think they’re more likely to slip back as some of the “racers” get their act together.
Gonna throw this out there. Red Bull post Perez don’t have a WCC level of team mate waiting in the wings to drive with Max. Could they have stuck it to Renault after the Ricciardo saga by signing their protege Piastri? Give him a year at Alpha Tauri to bed in and then replace Checo at the end of his deal?
Maybe, if it’s true that Alpine had ‘til 31st July to find Piastri a seat, then maybe this is a possibility that has opened up recently. On the other side, the recently announced Honda extension presumably has increased Tsunoda’s chances of retaining the seat?
I read on the BBC site that Masi received a significant quantity of death threats towards himself and his family following the debacle last year. As much as what he did was wrong, and many others in public life, death threats must be a significant stress point for anyone receiving them, i would imagine. We can't as a society condone these by ignoring them. If posted on social media, the social media companies need to delete the perpetrators account. No doubt they can open another but it sends the message you are not allowed.
All of them are probably little 15 year olds little crying on twitter, face to face their do absolutely nothing lol
I'd have sympathy if he came out and admitted he was in the wrong and apologized, instead he seems to blame everyone except himself.
To be honest he's probably not allowed to apologise as that would infer he/FIA did something wrong which is never going to happen. Bit like accidents under waved yellows that allow cars to just show they lifted rather that as rules state prepare to stop!
Well since he signed an NDA, I don't think he can say anything at all. Why there's a need for an NDA is a whole other question. As for death threats, sadly there's too many morons in the planet.
a) that’s not really the point b) that’s not an excuse because - and I apologise for being blunt - there are NO excuses for this kind of behaviour, as such articulating one immediately puts you in the wrong.
It's been revealed Alonso will be paid $17.8m a year. He is currently on $20m at Alpine while Vettel is on $15m
Still one very handsome salary then despite his age. I think he’s on more than Ricciardo - think Dan dropped from £25m a season at Renault to approx £15m at McLaren.
