Fair play to the injured person speaking straight out in support of sharks and their behaviours in their natural environment
To be fair it was just a nibble. And from a Blue Shark which are pretty small sharks. But yeah if you're gonna go snorkeling with sharks, then you have to be prepared to take the risks that go with it.
I've surfed in a few sharky places before. When you're on a board, you feel a bit safer because you're sat up looking across the water and you've got something between you and anything that might attack you. But being in the water swimming or snorkelling has got a whole different feel to it. I was at a place called San Onofre once, it's a Great White breeding ground. I asked the locals about it and they were like, yeah don't worry about it they usually stay out past that rock over there. When I was in the water, I snapped my leash on a big wave and had to swim back to shore. All I could think about was that scene in Jaws where the guy is trying to swim back to that broken wooden jetty with his mate screaming at him to swim faster
