His stature would certainly give us something different.

Interesting that Dalman has said buy a younger player, loan an experienced player.
Would have thought the other way round would be more acheivable.

I'd have no issue signing an old head on a 2 year contract. Its an area we have very little experience. Would give the younger players time to develop.

Apparently, Pompey were bidding £300K for him. Didn't come off and they've gone for other targets.

From that I presume Spurs will want something over half a mill before they'll talk seriously.

It's probably a legacy of our recent past but I get scared when we start talking about big strikers again. I'm sure I'll get past it eventually.

Agreed. Personally I'd prefer a Chopra type - someone who can run behind and finish.

At the moment we've got Mark Harris who can run behind alright but can't finish. I think Watters can do it, but how long do we have to wait to find out?

The last tall signing we made and could play a bit was Bothroyd, who was at the game on Saturday.

Bothroyd was class. I heard him co-commentate with Ashley James when I watched the official site recording of the game on Sunday. The guy talked a lot of sense.

I liked the way he immediately gave credit to both Sawyers for scoring that goal and particularly to Watters who made the gap with his run across their defenders.

He's still playing... Wonder if he fancies a return?

I think he had to give it up last season whilst in Japan - heart problems I think.

He seemed quite balanced in his views on Watters and Harris.
He was quite complimentary of both, but critical when needed.
I liked his style. Calm, articulate and analytical.
Can't say the same for many of the Sky, BBC or ITV pundits.

View from Dier Hard, a regular poster on the Spurs board.

Etete has slipped down the list at Spurs and unlikely to get ahead of Parrott and Scarlet even though they are out on loan.

Mobile despite his size and aggressive. As we know he has not been a regular scorer. DH questions his ability to provide goals/assists.

He has had experience in lower leagues so will have had big, ugly centre backs kicking lumps off him.

He thinks an upper level Div. 1 team may have been more suitable but it could work for us. As Sparks said, Pompey didn't progress at £300k. DH thinks £300/500k would get the deal but with a 30/35% sell on clause. Spurs use that when selling most of their youngsters.

A pretty neutral verdict but at 20 he is young and Spurs must have seen something in him to take him off Notts County a few years ago. He will have had time working with the likes of Kane and Son so should have picked up some good habits.

SM and team will have done plenty of background on him so if it takes a few hundred grand and the lad wants to come then it's worth a punt.

According to the club statement yesterday we are also looking to loan in an experienced striker who could be a guide and role model for Etete.

    WoL reporting it as well.

    Mixed feelings on this one.
Would have been happier getting a bit more experienced player.
Hopefully Etete is one for the now, not for the future.

Nice to see the board making funds, however modest, available.

If things start well, I hope we get Morison tied down.
Wouldn't want to be starting again in 12 months time.

Had the Commonwealth Games on in the background.
Noticed yesterday there's a woman in the Heptathalon called Jade O'Dowda. Unusual surname thinks I.
Jason Mohammed just confirmed its Callum's sister.
Jason gives a call out for the Bluebirds.
