Eighth last season with Fofana missing most of the year, and multiple other key injuries. 5th each of the preceding two seasons. And as of this moment, for all of the talk about Leicester selling players left and right, they haven't sold anyone of note in two years. They have ever reason to believe that they should be aiming for top 6.
It sounds like things are not in good shape off the pitch and that can have an impact on the pitch. Schmeichel will be a big miss - he's a very good keeper and a leader. Players like Fofana, Tielemans and Maddison won't hang around if the **** is hitting the fan either. I'd be stunned if they finished top half this season.
They do, but most of that is internal. The extent to which it matters depends entirely on the extent to which it matters to their owners. They've already written off £100m by converting it to equity.
And that’s probably the key. Maybe the owners finances / businesses have taken a hit & they can’t fund the Leicester project as aggressively as before.
Bearing in mind the owners business is very much linked to air travel, its a business experiencing serious issues worldwide so their income will have no doubt been seriously compromised. This I would assume is why they arent able to pump cash into the club Welcome to the real word Leicester
It wasn't down to that. But they now need to fund the squad that maintaining that success has lead to them accumulating. Their 5th/6th choice centre back earns more than (I think) our entire squad except JWP. And it is still "only" Leicester
Hmm - maybe he will get the 100k a week contract he wanted when he was approaching free agent status (or close to it).
McCarthy is a pretty good no.2 for our level if Bazunu works out. Thing is we don't know Bazunu will work out or not yet, so would be a risk to sell McCarthy at this stage given that he is an okay PL GK at the lower end of the table which is us. I know it's popular to **** on McCarthy at the moment, but he's really not that bad.
Which is why, generally, we all end up bitter and disappointed. Which is presumably what we really want, or why would we bother?
He is a bloody good no.2 but youd think the wages he is on are probably bloody high for a no.2! If we can get some money for him then it would be good to sell and use Lis as our back up instead of loaning him out.
I suppose only those who have seen Lis in training will know. It's impossible to say how good he is. It is odd we signed him, assuming he would be off on loan, but is still at the club. Maybe we got a few questions about McCarthy's availability after we signed him and half expected this situation to arise.
