    The first goal was genuinely world class. I know that term is bandied around, but it was technically awesome. The sort of thing that people go crazy over if Messi does it. And what a cool head, to do that in the final in front of 90K and millions of hopefuls at home. Take a bow, Dame Ella Toone.

    Talking of which, can you imagine the gongs that would be thrown at the boys for doing this? I hope this gets more than a couple of MBEs.

    When I see leaders of nations around Europe going to the large sporting events in their countries, I find it odd that the PM was not at Wembley yesterday. Did the experience of getting booed when he went to Twickenham have something to do with it?
