    Well done to the Lionesses, gritty performance and played the Germans at their own game towards the end to see the game out. A pleasure to see the joy on so many people's faces. That's what football does, whether it's Mens or Women's,' watching your team or Country win certainly lifts spirits and just makes for a feeling of wellbeing.

    Buzzing tonight! I had to tone myself down a bit being in a Turkish bar but seriously that was awesome! When I was at school, being a girl, I had to do some serious begging just to be allowed to play football! I relied on people like Flo Bilton who was a massive advocate for women’s football to open up opportunities to be allowed to play. I was one of the very few City fans at my school in the late 80s/early 90s and to be honest got laughed at as why would you support City! Hopefully this will pave the way for more girls to get the football/city bug #lionesses

    Older than you but also buzzing tonight. 9 years old when I saw the men win the World Cup in 1966. Saw first City game in 1969. The lads let me play in street games and I absolutely loved it. No opportunity to play competitive football in Brid in the early seventies. Stopped playing when I was about 15, only took it up again when I moved to the USA in early 90s. So many opportunities for girls and older women. Been playing for 30 years now and still love it.

    All I can think is there were a bunch more out there like me who never got a chance as kids. So really glad it’s in the rear view mirror and all those girls who want to play today will have truly equal opportunities.

    Maurice Thorpe, Youth Centre,Excelsiors all had good teams then. Apart from all the pub teams. Were you too young for them?
