She seems to grasp concepts like playing to a team's strengths and game management. Awfully complex ideas that seem mystifyingly beyond the bloke in the waistcoat.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not sure England were the best team, but if you get a good manager who plays to the strengths of the players with a good game plan, then you can overcome teams who might actually be better. A lesson to be learned. Well done girls, and they certainly know how to celebrate!

Note to self: don't marry somebody who writes comics about how much they hate their husband...

I wonder if John Terry has a sports bra for his lap of honour.

The same man who’s took England to the World Cup semi final and within a whisker of winning the Euros last year

Do the words "social" and "distancing" ring any bells...?

    Much prettier celebration than goal.

    Congratulations England!

What awesome celebrations. Very well done England. How refreshing to see people who just want to play football and enjoy it. And praise to Ian Wright for his continued support for the womens game. Great scenes at Wembley.

Saw this on Instagram and thought would be a good thing to post here.

    Pick one from each row

    Kane, Bale, Defoe, Son
Dembele, Van Der Vaart, Modric, Eriksen
    Vertonghen, Toby, King, Romero

Quite tough but I went Kane, Modric & King

Unbelievable to be part of the 87,000. My mate gambled £60 on four tickets this time last year, hoping England would make it to the final, but knew it’d be a great day out regardless.
Asked me if I wanted to go for my birthday, so all in all it couldn’t have turned out any better.
So many epic moments, but absolute goosebumps singing “3 lions” at the end. Couldn’t hear a thing all game where I was sat. The atmosphere was incredible.
And how refreshing to go to a football match without all the negatives associated with football fans.
Feel really lucky to be part of that yesterday. Incredible!

"I think England have hosted an incredible tournament and we've changed the game in this country - and hopefully across Europe and across the world."

    Eugh please

Wonder how the German women feel

theyve changed the world 8 times

    <doh>

Well done on the sporting achievement…but stfu with the world changing bollocks

A great achievement…like when Emma Radicicu don’t know her name won the tennis tournament.

The cynicism is strong in you, my young apprentice.
But to become the master, you should have said :

Congratulations to England women, who have matched the
men by winning an international tournament hosted on "home soil" .

I've seen some real sanctimony on Twitter, the worst of which said something along the lines of "All you Premier League clubs who wouldn't host women's games at your home stadium: you had your chance and you blew it"

Chance to do what? Have the women's teams play in front of grounds that could generously be described as one third full? How's that going to help the women's game?

It's not like the women's team is going to turn down that opportunity in the future, either.

Apparently no team is allowed to offer now

And don't get me started about the "And they didn't let girls play football at school..." crowd, all of whom apparently missed the schools selling off large chunks of their playing fields to housing twenty years ago
