It doesn't matter what they say or think . The referee is the one who matters and he thought - PENALTY . When we are all dead and gone your great great grandchildren will look at this result and see that Bristol lost 2 goals to one against Hull City . Now get to bed and wake up tomorrow with a sensible view .

You were embarrassing mate. Your players took it in turns to roll around feigning injury and squealing in high pitched voices to con the ref into giving you free kicks. Sounded like a women's team. Square Head Pearson was a no nonsense tough tackling defender when he was playing the game - he must be so disappointed to be in charge of such a bunch of fairies

The reason it's such a poor showing from you was because we're a side riddled with injuries (we had nothing on the bench), we've got a tonne of new players largely from unknown league and the new players we do have for the most part are nowhere near full match sharpness, Seri & Tufan particularly. Yet we still controlled the midfield largely with ease and you posed only a small threat.

I'd still love a midfield destroyer in there though

Seri has not come from a foreign league, and he's had as full a pre season as any. Just saying.

He's had about 3/4 of the pre season. He looked completely knackered though

That sounds like an admission of a stonewall penalty

That was really bloody brilliant today wasn't it. Best home game for years.

Any pre-match worries about creativity were allayed today. Between Seri and Tufan we got loads of good progressive passes up the middle of the pitch. Lovely stuff.

If that's our team with 10 injuries, loads of signings who still need time to gel, and more quality players on the way in, then we're going to be some side when all that comes together.

Best thing was the completely different atmosphere in the stadium.

    My brief thoughts.

Tufan really impressed. I had him down for most improved on our podcast as I thought his base would be quite low, but he reminded me a bit of Huddlestone in the sense that he wasn't able to be very mobile after a few early bursts (escorting Weimann out of play was a really good effort from him, but the then drifted in and out) but when he was fed the ball he showed his class with the ball over the top for Oscar for instance.

Oscar also impressed, made his runs perfectly timed, had a few really great chances to score and looked brilliant in all round play (megged a Bristol City player early on) and showed that he has a lot to add to the side as he develops a greater understanding with the players around him.

Ally worked hard and played well, but still looked at his best when on the front foot, getting past players, and whipping in crosses, I don't necessarily want to see him at wing back long term so the fact Elder came on late hopefully means he'll be right for next week.

Seri was a class above in midfield and was able to get cute little passes out to buy us time or retain possession when we would have otherwise lost the ball. His winner had a touch of fortune to it but it wasn't undeserved.

Greaves was brilliant and anyone who says 7m overvalues him (regardless of the factuality of that article) needs to watch the game last night. His bursts forward caused Bristol City trouble all game, his general play was fantastic, and he looked of the same class as any of our new signings.

Tetteh fantastic when he came on, so much for a lack of match fitness, he was at the heart of both our goals, and really changed the game.

General comments on the game, the talk about an undeserved penalty or undeserved win are absolute tosh. Greaves was taken out in the box for a stonewall pen in the first half which was ignored (the Oscar one I'm less inclined to say was a pen, live it looked one, but on replay it looked like there were hands on his back and he went down, rather than an actual push). But once Bristol City scored they parked the bus, and had no right to say they deserved that win.

I thought Allahyar was great at wing back, he gives us a real outlet and creativity that Elder doesn't. Once Elder game on they started having a lot of joy down our left and more crosses came in. Having Elder, Coyle, 3CBs & too DMs is way to defensive. I don't want to see us playing like that and if we want to play 352 the wing backs have to be players that offer something going forward otherwise it doesn't work.

I like the plan of having Elder come on to tighten it up for the last 20 but I don't want us to play defensively and start with him.

I don't think he was good defensively, he gave away a lot of fouls and on another day could have been on a yellow card reasonably early on. He gave away 4 fouls, the next most in the side was 1. He's not skilled enough defensively for me, and would be exposed badly against a better side. We had to sacrifice Slater's game to a large extent to protect him and that's not a sustainable plan.

They had plenty of joy when Ally was on too (there's a reason he gave away so many fouls), but it was only late that they began to push on for a goal after having previously largely set up shop so I think that's more coincidence than anything. I think Elder was a lot better defensively than Ally.
